Barq's does, the rest don't. It was a Barq's. I know because I've always avoided caffiene. I couldn't handle two cans of Barq's at once - it'd knock me out. But small amounts have done me a lot of good today, let's see if it turns out to be something that proves to be able to work long term... I'll prolly switch to iced green tea or something healthier if so.

I was diagnosed with ADD without hyperactivity back in school. I took medications for a while because my parents told me too, but I never liked them and I quit as soon as I could. I went through college just fine with out them.

The thing is prescription meds are only one part of a soultion if that is the route you want to take. The other part is basic behavioral therapy.

But there are alot lots and lots and lots of other solutions that might work too. Many of them can be found here:

Alternative Treatments for ADD

I find excersise helps, as well as meditation. My mom sent me to Korea with a thing of fish oil suppliments, but I have not tried it yet. I am pretty much addicted to caffine. In Korea, coffee is everywhere so it is just about impossible not to drink it.

The only universal truth about ADD, is that it is a mess. The good thing about it is that you have a lot of room to play in with it. I

I think clowning helps alot too. In alot of ways it is like meditation because when clowning you are in the moment making people laugh at what you are doing. Also it is quite physical, and you dont have to be normally sequentious about it. Impluses are quite alright.

Thanks, right now I feel amazing just from drinking some caffinated soda. I'm starting to get twitchy and restless again, and I was wandering a lot mentally during church but I managed to get my job done (I'm working temp. up at my church for a big conference we're hosting... this morning I was so attention deficit I missed dozens of cues in the service and had everyone mad. I hit all the cues I needed to tonight (I was a tech person) and I felt the most with it I have in days).

Honestly though I have a headache now like I often get from caffeine so I'm really tempted to just suck up the $$$ hit (I have insurance but it sucks) to go to a doctor (I know one adult who is on Adderall which is a stimulant drug for attention deficit issues so I'd ask her who she goes to) and ask if he has anything that'd help me more long term without the side effects of caffeine.

I suggest seeing a well established Doc. Self medicating can be a waste of time and have some lousy side effects. The fix may be easier than you think.

Doctors recommend drugs and that's not something I'm ready for. I don't want to give up who I am, but I'm having such a hard time mentally...

I hear that comment a lot, the bit about "not wanting to give up who you are." I have to admit in most cases I don't understand it. (With frontal lobatomy type surgeries I understand) but small amounts of medication, for example: headache pills or powders, there is no effect on the mental processes at all, simply the inflamed tissues are calmed. If my back is sore I'll put an Ice pack and/or a heating pad on it to relax the muscles. And I might take a tylanol as well or instead depending on wheather I have the time for set down. You know enough about researching medications to know if the drug the Docs are prescribing for you are psyche-altering monstersin a gel-cap, or merely something to calm the over active synapses firing wildly in your brain.

But the thing is being hyperactive and impulsive, while it kills me in getting things done and being productive and has been almost unbearable the last few days; it's also part of who i am, part of why the kids love me and stuff.

For me and Fitzy it is like this: As Dan I am fairly low key (some beg to differ) much of the time, but when Fitzy comes out to play I become that Hyperactive and impulsive part of me. It is still there inside of me, but is controlled. I am able to focus and get things done but it is right there when it needs to be. I wish I had better answers for you.
