Default Not quite AWOL

In the next few days, I probably won't be on as frequently as usual. Before rumors get started, I'll go ahead and tell you now that my temporary leave of absence is due to my grandmother being in the hospital.

I don't know how long she'll be in there or if a funeral will follow afterwards, so I won't even estimate when normalcy will return.

So, for those of you posting in my debate threads, I will not be able to respond for a while. I am not avoiding you, chickening out, or running out of sources.

By all means, don't freeze the debate on my account. Find someone else to argue with for a while, but remember your simple rules of debate and the tactics that are considered bad form. If need be, cite your sources, and always remember that your mind functions best when open.

Update: I won't go into gritty details, but her future doesn't look like it's going to last too much longer.

I'll see you when I see you, I guess.

I am sorry to hear that she is sick. It is hard to have someone you love in the hospital. I hope she gets better.

For some reason, I read it as granddaughter instead of grandmother. I think my head was still in a charity event being planned to raise funds for children with cancer.

Thanks to the three of you for your kind words. It's nice to read them in this situation.

The stats so far are that she's hooked up to several IV's, a ventilator, and cold packs to prevent brain damage from overheating.
She has been unconscious since 2:30 am and has been resuscitated five separate times so far.

The doctors are not optimistic and have told us right out that she is not expected to make it through this. They're giving her about three more days at the most to live.

In a way, I'm relieved for her. She's been very unwell for as long as I can remember. She often talked about wanting to die to stop the pain. If this is the only way she can stop the pain, then so be it.

I've already made my peace with her at the hospital today. I gave her my final words, even though she was unconscious. While she was unresponsive, her arm did move a little. Still, I know that this is not necessarily an indication that she aware of my presence and it could have simply been an involuntary muscle twitch.

Really, the biggest issue for me at the moment is if she heard me and how long she'll linger in this sorry state.
