The worst circus experience ever - Guaranteed
BBC NEWS | Americas | Colombia clowns killed on stage
Evidently this is becoming a trend as a similar situation happend earlier in the year...
I'll pass on Columbian circuses...

Murder itself is a terrible, unspeakable thing, but to do it in front of all those children is pretty savage. One can only wonder what the motive was.

That article is from February 2007; probably the same incident you're thinking of, Jolly.

Ah sorry - My post was unclear.
Within the post it mentions that "Last year, a prominent circus clown, known as Pepe, was also shot dead by a unknown assailant in Cucuta." In addition to the 2 shot at the time of the circus.
I can't imagine it being a conspiracy to kill clowns in South America so much as a more mundane explanation of it being in Columbia where people are shot all the time...

It was only a matter of time before somebody tried to kill clowns. I think George Carlin hit the nail on the head, when he spoke of anti-clown/anti-comedian bias.
"What's the first thing that a bank robber says? 'Don't try anything funny. First one to try something funny is going to get it.' I wait until he isn't looking, and then I go [funny noise and gestures.]"

He was a little crude and a lot controversial - but I'll miss the comedy of George Carlin.

Who runs to the rescue of entertaining the audience and saving the show when someone kills the clowns?

For my fellow true crime buffs, further entertainment will not be needed. My fellow mortuary science students will be snapping photos and taking notes for further study.
Come to think of it...Tim, would you like to help me with some studies?
