I just had my new website done. http://www.lollyplop.com/ The person who designed it for me is just starting out in her own business. She normally charges $150 for a site like mine, but will charge $125 to all my clown friends. Additional pages are $25. For info: Email: josueandcindi@charterdotnet

Default LinkedIn

Any clowns use LinkedIn for either clowning or professional business? I have a professional LinkedIn profile which doesn't cover any of my clowning or theatre experience. It's geared towards sales consulting. I was thinking having a LinkedIn for our clowns would be a great idea.

It's set up so that you can create a professional profile, link with others and recommend business associates. You can also ask questions to be answered by the community and it covers past and present career positions, education, industry and your website.

Since I don't want my professional profile mixed up with my clowning profile (I worry that clients wont take me seriously!) I am not sure if I should use my stage name or make up a pen name all together for a clown profile. What do you think?. If you're interested please have a go at LinkedIn and see if you think it might be useful. I'd love to hear your opinions!

Should I use my stage name for a separate LinkedIn profile?

Do you think LinkedIn might be of use to people who clown?

Default LinkedIn

I went ahead and set up a LinkedIn profile for my clowning and I would love to start getting a professional clown network going on over there. LinkedIn is to professionals what MySpace and Facebook are to casual social networkers.

The main reason I got started on LinkedIn is because there is a great system there for recommending associates and getting introductions to people through friends. Check it out and feel free to request a recommendation from me if I know you and you've been on the forum a while!

Also be sure to add in as much of your clowning experience and schooling as possible so others who have trained with you or know you from certain gigs can connect and recommend you to others.

Default linked in

linked in is useful.

it provides a way for business ppl to give public feedback to clowns they hired.

i did a private party and now it looks like the guy i did it for wasn't just joe anybody, but a hot shot 'senior software developer'... then i cut and pasted what he wrote into my main site.

makes it easier to get corporate gigs.

i liked how friendster called them 'testimonials'... then myspace called them 'comments' and ppl filled them up with so much rubbish (like 'hi, see you tonight!')...

i thot briefly that facebook would be more professional than myspace less square than linked in. i found it to be MORE inane with all the growing gifts and pirates vs. ninjas apps sucking my brain dry.

Default Fundable

After reading about the 1,000 True Fans theory I looked into a suggested link called Fundable.

From the website:

Quote:
What is Fundable.com?
Fundable.com lets groups of people pool funds to make purchases or raise money.
Similar to online auctions, Fundable's pages are created by people who use this site. Each project has a description of how much money needs to be collected and what it will do. Once enough pledges (not payments) have been collected, Fundable turns them into real payments and sends the total to the project's organizer.
No one takes a risk when making a pledge: if a collection expires before reaching its total in pledges, Fundable deletes all pledges and never charges money. This lets you participate in a group purchase or fundraiser without worrying about what other people will do. No one pays until and unless everyone else makes a pledge.
I've created a Fundable to help get my silent film style vaudeville show produced in Seattle. See it in "action" here.

Chance, I've primed your tip jar. I think you should make a new thread in Events and Announcements about this.

Thank you so much Princess! I have been trying to figure out all day who it was that pledged so I could send them a thank you note. Now I know!

I am guessing you are in New York? I would love to have you come to the show. Seattle isn't THAT far.

In lieu of you coming here in July I will think of another way to thank you for your support!
