By the way, don't you just LOVE the flower that Azzy chose to wear in his hair???
|
I do like that look, I think I shall have to glue some to my head for my cousin's wedding.
Great to see the pictures, thanks!

Yes, a good time was had by all. It was nice to put a face with a clown name.We had a few local artists who stopped in and at about two in the morning on Saturday an interesting pair walked in.... To say they were "Feeling no pain" would be and understatement. They kept Harpoetta, Fitzwilly, Tim and myself entertained for quite a bit!
Yesterday afternoon, Fitz, Tim and myself sat down to talk about the next Spring fling. The actual date has yet to be set. However, we are planning on bringing in some more guest lectures, and a vendor or two. Please those who attended and those who didn't please offer suggestion of what YOU want to see.
Here is what we are planning for the fling.
It is very likely that we will have a fair and reasonable registration fee. No one is made out of money, And for many of us we don't get to the big conventions because of cost. It is our goal to keep costs down. However, It is likely we will have to pay for lecturers. Possibly a conference room, plus other incidental expenses. Red roof was wonderful, and went out of the way to accommodate us. However, they may also change the rules next year, raise the rates, and decide they need a couple hundred to use that room.
A better structure; up to a printed time schedule stating what times the workshops, jams, and dealer shopping times are. Better organization means that you will be able to pick and choose what lectures you want to attend. Fitz and I talked about perhaps trying to get a really good balloon artiste and perhaps a facepainter to lecture. your ideas for the next fling would be appreciated!
I would also like to see a workshop on skits and maybe dong a skit show for a nursing home or Charity as part of the Saturday evening events. Performance is what makes you sharp. Perhaps we could get the Princess herself to attend so that we may truly entertain our number one fan!
Cheers,
Scruffy

Scruffy - Nice to hear you are planning for next year's event - sounds like you have a great start already.
Here are a couple of names of friends who I know have held awesome classes and would be great instructors for next year.
Both are from Michigan -
Andrew MacDonald, MacPump. Andy placed third in BOTH the large and small figure competition at Twist & Shout 2007. A very hillarious, nice guy, he did a class on mall venue at the MBD2 bash in Chicago. He also is the creator of the macpump... (I love mine). Andy and I started West Michigan Balloon Twisters Group - he is on the board of Michigan Twisters (East side of the state).
Anna - Clash's party zoo - Kalamazoo - very talented face painting - Anna is one totally awesome person Jest Party With Us!
- a member of my clown alley.
I spent a very nice day with my mom (72 years young) on Saturday on a bus trip with 30 other special needs bus drivers and aides - Their employer sent them all to the Casino for the day - I couldnt say no..*S*
Can't wait to hear when the next one will be and where. I am glad to hear everyone had a great time.

We missed you like crazy, though. Well, a little bit more, probably. I've never met crazy but I heard he is nice.

Oh wow! The pictures are great. I am so excited that you are already making plans for the next fling; I definately have to try and make it out to the next one!
Next to cost, my biggest issue with getting to anything is timing. This year's fling was right in the middle of the semester, which is kind of inconvenient for students. Then again, I think I am one of very few, so maybe I'll just have to cut class.
Looking forward to chat this week to hear allllllll about it!

You were more than welcome to come to this one, Willace. It's not like there was a party and you weren't invited. Of course, you would have made it extra special, but sometimes things just don't work out.
Why don't you invite us all to your neck of the woods and we'll all splash around in a beautiful pool IN CLOWN??? It could be our first annual Clown Forum POOL PARTY???
IT WILL DEFINITELY BE OFFICIAL 'CUZ YOU WILL BE THERE!!
