Clowns of America international

coai.org

It is an organization of clowns across the country and even some overseas.

They have a bi-monthly magazine and a yearly convention. You can also obtain liability ins. thur then.

Similar to World Clown Association.

Default our alley

Our alley has been around since '94. About 3 of the original members still in it and 7 more who joined at various points since then.

It's a struggle to keep it fresh and growing. They voted to switch to every other month meetings this year. I was the dissenting vote.

The main benefits, as I see them
  • you can work together on parades and other events
  • you can pool resources to buy supplies in bulk
  • you can have a scholarship fund to send individuals to trainings
  • you can monopolize the market and crush the mimes
I'd heard about the alley years before I was ready to actively track them down, and it took some doing... now, at least, we have a web page About the Alley the Red Nose Brigade, Olympia’s Clown Alley

Hey Smirky,

There are a couple of alleys around you. Indianapolis has the Winner's Circle Clowns - Bill Young is involved with that group. I heard he recently changed his email so this may be out of date but try: bcyoung1@sbcglobal.net

There is also a group called SmileMakers in the Kokomo area. Connie and Steve Lushin used to be in charge but I seem to remember that they stepped down from the leadership so they would have more time for other things. Ah! Here is an email you might try: drakeld@sbcglobal.net

Fort Wayne has a group/alley called the Fort Wayne Joeys. I know that Ray "Sunbeam" Hapner is involved with that group. I'm looking up his email right now... try: raysunhapner@yahoo.com

In Muncie there is a group although I don't know anything about it, called the Laughing Hearts. An email for that group is peppermint1996@aol.com

Stay active on the Forum Penelope and we will help all we can from a distance, not to mention (although I am just about to...) people are joining all the time and the next one could be just down the road from you.
