Your right scooter we need some new blood in the alley
We have people who belong to it but never show up unless there is free food or pictures
It is sad that poeple have to be drafted to fill offices
and the ones who dont do anything are the ones who complain the most
They want us to do more alley functions but then we cant get clowns to do them '
I the can name the clowns that will be there before they even ask
At the next meeting I will propose a bring a clown to a meeting day

Is there a thread somewhere for people that are interested in starting an Alley?? How about for those that don't know of any other clowns in their area...

I think I'm going to run an add in the newspaper and on the radio for people that are interested in clowning to call me and maybe an alley might evolve from that ....

I am planning to start an alley in my area. I have located a couple of other clowns in the area who will lend their support. Once the meeting date is set we will place an announcment in the community section of the newspaper (free) and see if we can get things started.

For the alley to be non-profit and not pay taxes on what they bring in, you can not 'charge' for apperances. At least that is my understanding. In TX we were always careful to accept donations but not charge. You could suggest a donation to help cover supplies and keep the organization going. We found that worked.

I drive over an hour to attend an Alley and although it's fairly new [little over 1 yr old. I can already see some decline in regular attendance. One prob. I have is that there's not enough advance notice on an event. So far out of the late 4-5 calls they've had for our group I've not been available to attend any, and several no one could attend.

I suggested at our last mtg for those our group sets up, it would be better if they see what date people have available then go from that direction so more of us could commit to a date.

I am in upstate NY. We will be working with the Utica zoo. That will give us a stage to work on and an audiance to entertain. And the zoo will get some entertainment that they could never pay for. It is a little zoo that is bearly making it.

I figured it works for both groups and they like the idea. It is making it's way thru their board.
