I thought of using a can that could not be seen through too...What about the seeding though?

One of my freidns is a face painter and she got the paint cans that are made of plastic so you can see though them and painted tips on the frount. It is a very cute idea if you are painting.

I think I have seen them in most paint stores and maybe Home Depot and / or Lowes. Clear plastic quart cans.

So I was wondering... Have any of you ever had your Tip Jars stolen...
I'm making one to use for my line work (I'm doing Relay for Life this Friday)... That should be fine...
But once I did an event (non clown affiliated) with a different organization... and someone ran up and stole our tip jar...

People can be really rotten! I would recommend, if you are using a tip jar, some way of fastening it to your table or other sturdy surface, so people won't be able to dash off with it! Even just some cable ties.

I use a collapsable top hat for my tips. When I set up station I put it out (and seed it), and when I get to the point I need to empty it, I just collect the cash and put the hat on for a brief walk-around. Rinse-and-repeat.
I don't like collecting cash with people around, so putting the hat on gives the action some purpose. If I have an assistant, I have them collect the cash instead (when convenient) and continue one.
You can get a collapsable top hat for around $30 - I feel it looks better than a tip "jar" (imo). I generally try to buy a new one every year [of different print or design](tradition), and incorporate the old one into a costume.
