Where can you get it for that sort of price? I've seen them available, but for MUCH more moolah.

Both Larock's and Magic Tricks (.com) sell collapseable tophats between $29.99 and 49.99. These are durable enough to handle the wear and tear of character work and double as an improv tip "jar.'

For my full dress magician needs, I generally shop at The Village Hat Shop - higher quality hats for higher cash.

Thanks!
I've seen real cute clear containers in the toy deptartments. Shaped like tea pots(containing play tea sets), lipstick (Make-up) and all kinds of other fun and more amusing potential tip containers. Along side the tip jar, I place a computer generated bold sign that says something to the effect of ...

"Your generous contributions today will assist many children tomorrow with expensive health care expenses that we all as being children of God deserve." Thank-you.

...Or the likes off.

This is what my tip badge says..." I accept snacks, TIPS, jewelry, TIPS, new shoes, or TIPS!

I've seen a few performers use long felt tubes to collect money in. The money is dropped in on one end and falls too far to be reached by human arms. You could probably attach it to your person somehow and turn it into a prop though it might be a bit too Seussical...

Makes me think of the cigarette ashtrays you see nowdays that look like giant tan colored "Jeannie bottles."

Clown Pie

You'd have to hope no one mistakes your tip jar for a cigarette disposal location and sets your money on fire!!!

What is it with Northerners that put sugar in cornbread?? Thats not cornbread! When you put sugar in cornbread it becomes CAKE!!!

Put the sugar in the tea! Thats where it belongs! I like my tea to be so sweet that I can pour it on my pancakes if I run out of syrup!
