Funny storry about my first major gig

Hi everyone. I just got my first major gig dooing walk around gags and balloons at the Toronto Family Pride event which is part of the Toronto Gay pride celebration that the city has in June.Gave them a sweet deal for the 2 days, but I get to hand out as many cards and brouchres as I can and it will be great experience.
When I met with the event co ordinaters, the first thing they asked me was if I could wear a rainbow wig! Well,at the risk of loosing the gig, I politley informed them that, in most profesional clown circles, rainbow wigs scream "lipstick clown".
The head organiser started laughing her head off and said to me "We have a similar term for women but it does not mean amature!"
then it occurred to me what she meant, and I started laughing, and soon the other 2 organizers were laughing also!
After all of that, I said I can wear a rainbow themed costume, and they were fine with that.
I am nervous about it being my first big gig but very excited.
Any tips or advice would be welcome

what had you wanted to charge w/o making a sweet deal & what did they get you for?
