Default I want to be young again!

For the same reason most of us are clowns. It takes us back to a time when we were children, the world was good, people were innocent and the only thing we thought about was the moment at hand. That is why when we clown, we clown for all ages. Children see a warm inviting character that takes them to another "deminsion" if you will. The performances and abilities of a clown are beyond those in their normal everyday lives, and yet innocent at the same time, so they are taken to a magical moment. Adults are reminded of the times they too were taken to that demension when they were young, and didn't worry about the day to day stresses and involvements. Clowns bring about a positive state of mind where there are no illnesses, bad people, death, foreclosures, bullys, bills to pay, teenagers out of control, lack of medication, or too high gases prices or no dessert after dinner. It is very psychologically theraputic. A clowns presence says, two things; there is a friend here who accepts me and my world just the way I am, wow! things could be a lot worse than they are!

Dixon, I'd love to hear your secret, but that's my secret.

The clown is the fool. Showing the world just how foolish every one truely is, that we are all in the same boat. Ha ha ha I all most did that last week. We are a reflection. A slightly warped one but still a reflection of humanity.

The world needs to be able to laugh at itself. They need to see themselves from another angle.

They know that things will be different, the "normalcy" of the everyday has been shattered. Their defenses are broken down as they are invited into a world of play. They see something of themselves and say, "My God, that could be ME!"

Default Answer to the question :why do people laugh at clowns

The responses are great and all of them are reasons, but there is a secret.

ask your self several questions.

1. Why are the colors used for clowns

2. Did you know that certain colors are hypnotic

3. Do certain physcial motions effect the mind.

i will post the facts on the next thread

Doest this have to do with the primary colors? Many of the coolest clown costumes I have seen have been anything but primaries. Plaids come to mind. BTW, the rule of thumb, no more than three colors. And plaid counts as one color.

I think it is because we see clowns saying and doing things we wish we felt free enough to say and do.

Now I am intrigued. I think you are about to oversimplify a whoooole bunch. Please do it so we can discuss it, and stop prancing around the bush.
