Default Bead Animals

I heard a clown talking about making "bead animals," similar to those you'd make with balloons, only with beads, but I didn't catch the details. This sounds like something that would be nice to make in a setting where you can't use latex. Does anybody know how to do this? What kind of beads do you use?

If it is what I saw before it is using mardi gras beads. For me they are just to small...choking hazard.

Dale from MBD2.com has a book or two out on making the bead animals. I have one of them and Coco is right about them mostly using mardi gras beads. It is another skill worth having but because they are generally small they are much more personal and not nearly as visual as balloons.

I'm trying to include a pic of my "balloon dog" made from Mardi Gras beads. I picked up a few of these when I lived in New Orleans and I'll surely be picking up a book if there's one out there. I like to make one of these for the Birthday Child's Mom (she tends to stick it on a shelf somewhere) hopefully that will remind her of the card in her wallet![IMG][/IMG]

Joey, that is CUTE!

It certainly can't replace balloon animals and wouldn't be something you'd wanna give little kids, but giving it to birthday kid moms is a great idea! Or to hospital patients or nursing home residents when you can't use latex.
