Which Cartoons?
I searched this forum to see if a thread like this was started, and was unable to find one, so if there was already one started feel free to delete or merge this one.
Anyway, I once heard or knew or somehow figured out that clowns are nothing more than "living cartoons." At least, this is my excuse for watching as many cartoons as I do.
So, I was wondering, what cartoons do you watch, if any? And, if you tell me you don't, then my entire theory is flawed and just revealed that I am the only one still watching cartoons as an adult
I like the classics: All Tex Avery, of course, Droopy, Woody Woodpecker and my all-time fav Chilly Willy. I also watch Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents and a few other random ones here and there.
Almost forgot: Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends. I have gotten more than a few ideas from that show

I don't care for the old classics. I used to like the Flinstones, smurfs, and Tom and Jerry. I was never a fan of Woody or Bugs. I don't watch much TV, but I will from time to time watch Avatar and I used to watch Yu-Gi-Oh! Other fairly recent series inculde Justice League and Transformers.

I didn't know that. One of my exchange students love it, but can't seem to find the newest episodes. There were a few available On Demand, but I stopped watching after seeing the first two books repeat over and over again. Based on the basic storyline, it does make sense that it would be coming to an end.

When I was a kid, I liked cartoons with dialogue. Hannah Barbera stuff, mainly. I just didn't get a lot of the older stuff and silents. While in high school, I started to get a few references, though. I remember seeing a Popeye cartoon where Wimpy was in a joint which we came to discover (via the pullback to the violin in the window) was called, "Baroque Burgers." One of my classmates told me to go back and watch this stuff again. "It wasn't written for children, but adults." He noted how Mighty Mouse, for example, had a lot of operatic elements. Subsequently, this was confirmed by listening to interview with the people who did stuff like Bullwinkle (another one I didn't care much for as a kid.) So, now as an adult, I'm a much bigger fan of stuff like Tom and Jerry or Warner Brothers cartoons. I "get" the subtleties of and can appreciate/understand the brilliancy that was over my head as a kid. I very much think that this is the key to good clowning. It has to play on numerous levels. Simultaneously to a higher level of intelligence and nuance as well as a simpler degree which anyone, even a child, can find naturally funny.

I watch far too many cartoons for my own good (I enjoy mostly cartoons and horror movies).
Some faves include:
Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Billy & Mandy, Beetlejuice, Duckman, The Maxx, Futurama, Stoppit & Tidyup, Duckula, Lilo and Stitch and many more not coming to mind right now.

I always enjoyed Mr. Magoo's clown-like behavior... anything from disney up till and including Robin Hood is a winner in my book, but nothing nowadays - nothing new. I watched Courage for a time, but it got a bit stale... the classic Goofy cartoons are brilliant!
