If the majority of the children are two or three and up then ignore the younger ones. Anything you would do for them would alienate the older children, and they are much more likely to be vocal about their displeasure. If most of the children are 2ish and under then break out the "mommy and me" mentality. Bright colors, rolling the ball back and forth, Baby Einstein eat your heart out.

Just bought me a motorized bubble maker last week!
I'm glad I'm on the right page anyway!

Congratulations Sassy. I'm glad you were able to land both gigs. Chances are you can treat the two year old birthday girl like a slightly older child for the sake of your show. She most likely will be enjoying everyone else's reactions as well as the bright colors and your playfulness. You will do fantastic, I have no doubts.

Hey, Sassy!
Don't feel bad if the really little kids don't pay that much attention to you. I've done parties where 2-year-old birthday kids were much more interested in their cake than the clown. But the older kids had fun, so everybody was happy.

Keep an eye on the bubble machine. I had a kid break mine on the first time out. I was able to fix it though....
Have fun. play to the older children and the adults. the little one will just have fun watching the bigger kids enjoy themselves.
Cheers,
Scruffy

What they said Make sure you bring something to give the two year old (for the parents sake) because they're too little for balloons and put everything in their mouth. A clown nose and paper hat tear are relatively harmless as long as they don't chew on them for too long.

When I order Happy Meals (I'm not the only adult who does this, am I?) I always request the "Infant Toy." They usually have cute and colorful rattles and such. I save these and give them to kids who are old enough to want something from a clown but too young for balloons.
