I've got my on screen arrow pointers ready. I always wanted to be an "at home player."
How pathetic was it when a kid couldn't even get the ball in bucket #1.
There is this classic clip of a little child who kept nodding his head when it was explained that he had to stay behind the line, but he just ran to the next bucket and put the ball in every proceeding one. He had the clowns cracking up. But they kept giving him the prizes!

Do a Google Image search for Bozo and look at all the variations of makeup over the years and across the country, I'll think you will get a kick out of the differences.

I remember that kid Tim. The clowns were great there as they were losing it with laughter. I remember Bozo being super-sarcastic. Haven't seen it in ages. I need to find a clip!

Most of the humor on that show really wasn't kids fare. It was often inuendoed adult vaudevillian schtick.

I to remember Bob Bell as Bozo, and was unaware of the franchise. Bozo and Clarabell on Howdy Doody were my heros.

Pro Bozo Publico- Support your local clown.
When I think of Bozo the clown I think of one person only, Bob Bell, and the original cast of the Howdy Doody Show. As children we spent many hours staring at a test pattern on our tv sets waiting for the show to begin.
I hope I don't misquote Bob Bell but I believe he once said "Laughter cannot be imitated. It comes from the heart." whenever I hear people laughing heartily his words come back to me.
It might be intersting to see what WGN-TV does over the three-day holiday with "Bozo"
Does anyone know of any informative articles about the name "Bozo"
and particularly it's use in our language, and all other languages too?
The name "Bozo" and Bob Bell is legendary to say the least.
Thanks to everyone for posting very, very interesting commentary on this thread.
Grandpa...

Well, today I got a very nice compliment at my morning gig for the 4th. Someone told me that he thought I was better than Bozo. I'd hasten to differ, but when you make a kid happy then to that dad you have certainly accomplished something which even Bozo no longer can.

THAT would have been a travesty.
I always thought that Joey did a great job of filling out those "Size 83AAA" shoes. For me as well, Bob Bell will always be Bozo. Alas, we all knew that the day would come when it would be time for Bob to hang up the towel, but I know of No one better suited to replace him then Joey. To my Children, Joey will always be Bozo. I don't know if there is ever an occasion for him to do it, But I'd love to see some more.
Rest in peace Larry,
Hats off to Pinto Colvig. He set the standard. I had Bozo the capitol clown records when I was a kid. I remember thinking is was odd that Bozo on TV sounded so different on my close and play record player....
