When I was a little boy, growing up in the 80's, I had only seen Bozo featured in books. So to me personally, Bozo was nothing more than some cartoon charector. Oh well.

Default Just as a side note.....

The picture of Bozo posted by Yin Yang is the ORIGINAL Bozo the Clown, Vance "Pinto" Colvig. Pinto was a voice over artist, and did several cartoons, including a character called Gabby, and I believe did Popeye in a couple of early shorts. Pinto also did voice over work for Disney. (As in he is the Original Goofy) He also wrote the song "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" and was the original actor contracted by Capitol Records to do the voice of "Bozo the Capitol Clown".

Yes, Scruffy, I know that was a picture of "Pinto" Colvig. It was the only picture that I could find, on Google, of Bozo. Plus, since Bob Harmon bought out the rights to "Bozo the Clown", Bozo really is gone forever. Here is an article I just found. ABC News: Battling Bozos

I can't imagine that Bozo "really is gone forever." There's still money to be made from the name and someone will eventually emerge with control of the rights to use the character.

That article is from 2001 (before Harmon was stripped of his clown hall of fame honor) about the issue mentioned earlier in this thread where Harmon claimed to be the creator of Bozo (which was Al Livingston). Vance Colving as mentioned earlier was the first to portray Bozo.

Bob Bell did more for Bozo than anyone. More people saw him in the role (thanks to WGN becoming a cable superstation) and knew no other as Bozo. WGN's Bozo and Cooky were a great duo - all the others were the imposters to me. So if Bozo were "truly" dead, he would have been so in 1997 when Bell passed away. Fortunately, another good clown stepped into the over-sized shoes when Joey D'Auria donned the outfit)
