I'm not sure that's a good idea. The chat room is a great feature for the forum, and I certainly think a second chat time is a good idea for our international and younger members, but I worry that if I promote it too much people will choose to do all their talking in the chatroom instead of making new posts. It's the new posts that attract the search engines, thus bringing in new members.
Edit: you know, maybe there's a way to make everyone happy here. First let me find out if moving the chat room info box up is technically possible, as sometimes certain variables only work in certain areas of the template. If it works, I could add having the info box at the top of the page as one of the benefits of donating/premium memberships.
(I'm working on other special features, there's just one in particular that's giving me problems and I didn't want to roll out the special features without it.) That way the people who are addicted to the Forum and less likely to stop posting will see the info, and the new members won't be lured by the siren song of the chat room until they've seen the rest of the forum. What do you think about that arrangement?
