STOP Game for Older Kids (or adults)

When I have a company picnic or large family party I like to bring everyone into the fun. I usually do this later into the show because little ones can't wait to have their fun.

What you need:

2 sets of full page letters S T O P, one set on one color and another set in a different color.
You can do this cheaply by printing them yourself and protecting them with school type covers.
To much trouble for me. I created what I wanted on my computer at home then e-mailed it to staples. I had them print them on colored paper. They have a lot to choose from. Then I had them laminated in a med. wt. All of this cost me aqbout 15 dollors I think.

What to do:

Select 2 teams of people. They should be old enough to spell. Give each person one letter (card) and line them up on each side of you.

Explain that they are going to be asked to spell words by moving themselves into the proper position. Move yourself into the audiance so you can see when they do it right.

Have them spell TOPS.

One point to the winning team.

Have them spell STOP.

Again scoring points.

have them spell POTS.

For the last on you can have it count double or whatever you need to to make it a comptetion.

Have them spell dOTS.

They will look confused and say they can't and them someone will figure out to turn the P upside down to make a d. THE WINNERS

Suspenses, participation, and discovery.

Of course in the end everyone gets a prize. Just the winners are first. The prizes do not have to be big, just fun tokens.

Note:

When selecting a font for your letters make sure the P will look like a d when inverted. You can of course select with care the person who gets the P.

This packs flat in you box and can bail you out when you need something more and/or different. I keep it in my box all the time.
