Don't forget about the good ol' thrift shops. You just might find something that would work.
Good luck!

Thanks everybody! I do have one of those 6 in 1 hats I bought at the thrift store but it is too soft to hat juggle properly and is too round at the top. It looks more like a Keystone Cop hat really which doesn't look right unfortunately. The brim is also too soft and droops slightly making it look very much like a 1920s flapper hat or something. It is better than the cheapie bowler I have but still not what I need. I think a juggling hat may be the best but they are expensive. I may just have to wait to afford one!

Juggling hats are often heavy duty and well made, but they can also be heavy and expensive. Really, I'd just recommend searching for a hat which happens to fit your character best and work with it. Any hat should do. You can make appropriate modifications, if necessary. For instance, if it is too soft, try applying rabbit glue inside to stiffen it up. If the brim doesn't hold shape well, attach elastic rubber around the inner brim.

I don't have a website but he makes a variety of hats for hat manipulating.

The hat I have on in my avatar is a Nils Poll. Dube also makes quality juggling hats.

You join up yet? (In case everybody else doesn't know what I'm talking about, I mean the Circus Fans Association of America: http://www.circusfans.org - you should join too!)
There are some clown skit ideas for the upcoming convention that someone was asking about and we were working on awhile back in this thread:

hats
I just read this thread about hats. Let me add another suggestion--check out clothing stores, especially smaller stores, that cater to different ethnic groups. A few of weeks ago, I went into one just a couple of doors away from where I work part time. There were some hats on a hat rack and when I went over to look at them, the man said pick one and he would give me a good deal as they were getting a little shopworn. I got a great deal on a new, but slightly dusty, derby that matched a coat I had recently bought.

Hey, Chance - that guy is good! I wish that the video wasn't cut up so much like that, but I know it's because it was made for advertising his act more than entertaining. I'd love to see more of it!

Hey Chance,
I know I've seen these hats before at historical Old West reenactments. Every now and then you can find a "tall crown Derby" hat on Ebay.
In the meantime, Check this place out....
Black Bart Derby
Hope this helps,

Chance,
Go to Los Angeles Fraternal Supply Company, Inc., click on the section for Grotto Past Monarchs Fezzes.
Scroll to bottom of page and there is a chart for hat sizes. The top numbers are hat sizes and the bottom numbers are tape measurements taken around the head.
