Default Costume pattern hunting is harder than dinosaur hunting

Anyone know of a good place to find costume patterns? I am tired of the Halloween costume I have been wearing and want to make one more comfortable and working friendly. All I have found are two patters in the material section of wall-mart for very similar jumpsuit costumes but no two piece ones.

check out mooseburger, and costumes by Betty to get some ideas. Look at Disney and Reniassance outfits. When you get an idea you may need to combin patterns, for ex., Rooney's actually came from a pj. pattern. Sue's old one I drew out on news paper and made my pattern, but I sew a lot, Sue's new is basically a sqare dance dress, Sally's is a square dance skirt, home made vest and good will shirt. [I like it the best, but doesn't have pockets I need, so I'm looking at revamp her as well ] Flower's costume is 3 patterns combined, sleeves from a clown costume, top from a dress, and skirt from a poodle skirt pattern. Hope this gives you some ideas.

sticking out tongue

I have material for it if I can figure out what to do with it. The larger cloth is pretty hippy looking (spin painted spots) and I am thinking about tails from it with orange pants. Good old wally world find.

You can find some good, basic techniques on there. The easiest circle skirt in the world, simple bodices. It's a good starting point forthe basics, and then you can improve upon those.

I have found that any pattern can if made from the right material be a clown uniform. mine is a suit coat pattern that was "clown sized" and the pants are from a different pattern with patch pockets sewn on.

I have not figured out how to add pictures yet but if you want to see my uniform check out the myspace posting I'm on there.

Good luck and remember to think well outside of the box
( Box what box I never seen a box.)

Have you tried just any store that sells paterns. You may not find the perfect pattern but alterations can be made. Any pattern with the right material and decorations can be made to look 'funny'

I sat in the store for hours looking over pattern books. I finally decided on a french maid pattern and just made it much bigger. The poofy arms were perfect but I didn't want them off the shoulder and the skirt was great it just needed to be a little longer. It's just a matter of looking at a pattern and seeing it in different colors and tweeking it a bit here and there.

I'd like to find a nice pattern for a victorian era style suit to turn into my next Tramp outfit. I know tramps and hobos are generally depression era style clowns but think I'd like to try the victorian style anyway. Any ideas where to find something like that? I could use a good tailor too.
