Default Yak Wigs!

Hello again, Everybody! What's the general consensus on yak wigs? They seem as though they're the way to go, but perhaps a little pricey... I hear they wear well, though so its oh-so-tempting! I've got a few artificials and they seem to get a little more disheveled with every use. I saw a fella by the name of Patrick posted a link to his site in a previous thread - I've seen it before, pretty sure we all have. They look GREAT! Anyone have any insight or know of any other vendors for these babies? Patrick, you're the expert... what are the advantages and disadvantages? What can you tell us?

As you stated, there pros and cons to both. Synthetics have come a very long way in the last 15 to 20 years. There are many, many different colors as well as mixed combinations of colors. Since the style is incorporated directly into the fibers of the wig as it is made the syn. wigs tend to keep their styles better for a longer period of time, even with rougher treatment. And they tend to run about one tenth the cost of a good Yak wig.
Yak is a real hair. unlike the syn wigs you can style the wig yourself with a curling iron. In fact you will need to restyle your wig on a regular basis. Since Yak wigs are hair they accept dye. unlike syn wigs you have a nearly infinite choice of colors. Over time the color of Yak fades and you will need redye your wig. Taken care of your Yak wig should last you for years and years and years while you will probably want to replace your synthetic wig every couple of years.

What did I miss?

Thumbs up Yak Yak Yak

Just wanted to let everyone know that I bought a yak wig from Patrick from proclownwigs.com - picked it up at the post office today and man-oh-man!!! Lemme tell ya, clowns, this thing is TOP NOTCH! The color is amazing and its MUCH thicker and fuller than I thought it would be. Blows away any synthetic I've ever seen! Plus, Patrick made the whole process very easy and he's quick to get back to you with any questions. I have a long gig this coming Sunday, I'll let you clowns know what I think of it after I've had it on my head all day!

Anybody have any styling tips they'd like to share? Fitzzz, whadidyasay about a curling iron?

I seem to remember hearing that curling irons were okay on yak wigs because they were real hair. Pricilla Mooseburger wears a yak wig and has for years. She would probably be able to help.
