ProKnows
I'm at the Shriner convention in Myrtle Beach right now. The clown competition had a small vendor area set up and I knew ProKnows would be there, so I made sure to visit them. Leon was very helpful. He listened to where I'm going with character development and helped me pick out the nose that is right for me. He then custom cut the inside to make a perfect fit. During the process he made a small nick on the nose, although I didn't even see the imperfection. He took out another nose just like it and custom cut it for me. He then gave me both noses for the price of 1.
I am obviously going to be a spokesman for ProKnows. Leon was great to talk to and I'm a happy customer.

It is always nice to here about a vendor that really cares about the costumer.
Now I have a question for everone: What brand of nose do you use?
I am a ProKnows clown and have been since I started.

:O)
I use Proknows. They're great! Wish I got the same trim job you did, Jeff. That's terrific! I ordered mine through the mail from J.T. "Bubba" Sykes several years ago. I'm very happy with them. No problems or issues whatsoever.
As long as we're talkin about noses, let's talk about nose adhesives, too! I use a double-sided tape called Sticky Stuff, which is also a Proknows product. I love the stuff...I don't have to paint it on, or clean off residue afterwards. I trim about a centimeter off the strip, peel the back, apply it, and peel the other side and I'm done - just stick the nose on. Never had one fall off, even after several hours in hot, humid weather!

Everyone always tells me what a great guy Leon is.
I think it is important for any vendor or instructor to listen carefully to the client/student as to where they are heading in order to respond appropriately and help you make the most of what they have to offer.
I have three noses. One is a proknows, one a schnatlacher, and the other a Jim Howle. Each has something unique to offer me. I consider the proknows to be the best quality nose, overall. Yet there is something about the finish or whatever which just doesn't offer quite the right appearance that I am going for. So I usually employ the matching model schnat, instead. The Howle nose is a nice texture. I bought it because I needed something in a flesh tone which would work for my face and character when I go a route that is better suited to something not bright red. I wasn't finding just what I wanted in the other brands out there. So Jim and I talked it over for a bit and finally settled on a style and color that he then special coated coated for me and sent along. I add a bit of blush to the tip and it works just fine.
As for adhesive, I have used the schnatlacher stuff, but am not entirely happy with it. It does work well enough for the schnat nose, I suppose, but not particularly well for any of the others. I need to try out some other options and see how they go.

Noses - I started with Schnatlachers, I have about 3 or four styles of Schnats. They are actually a knock off of Leon's Proknows. The current owner isn't the one that knowingly created the knockoffs however. The Schnats are a softer foam material than the Proknows models. I was never quite happy with my Schnats because with the softer foam the edges needed to be thicker than with the Proknows to retain the support so the edges didn't flop and rip. I now use two different styles of Proknows and two different Jim Howle noses.

Leon is a great instructor, wish I could have taken his advance studies. I got my original nose at a conference, but I've ordered several from him for my group and we've been well please and fast service. He'll be at the KCD first weekend of Oct. I use pronose adhesive for my noes tip. and used to use the double sided sticky tape for my full nose. Last year Tony Jones introduced us to Jim Howles nose putty. I love it. Occasionally I have allergy problems and to be able to take a brake, pop it off quick and return it without worring about reapplying sticky stuff or preping nose is great.

Anyone have Michael Jackson's latest address? He might benefit from our discussion on applying noses...
And now you are all singing "Beat it, beat it..."

That's just bad. It's bad. You know it.
