New Ideas, Interesting Items, Different Directions
So I got to thinking about costuming recently. And changes. I'm not looking for anything major at the moment. But I did buy a plaid jacket at thrift (for the low low price of two dollars and fifty cents). It isn't exactly the color scheme I'd prefer. (Pale blue and pink - I think royal blue, white, and red would do the trick better.) But I may give it a try. It could help complete the "vaudevillian" image I'm going for.
It leads me to wonder what kinds of costuming items you might like to experiement with. Is it something in another style, a change of color, a way of dress or piece of costuming that you aren't presently using, perhaps?
If you could play around with going in another direction (or maybe it is just greater refinement of what you already have, even an enviable item that you are longing for), what would you want to try out concerning costuming?

My big one is a hat, not just any hat but "the right hat" since doning Fitzy's purple plaid suit two years ago and losing the wig because it didn't fit with the new "look" I have been on a quest to find the right hat. I use a yellow Karen Bell hat and it works and I can play with it some (another thing I need to practice) but it is not the "right hat." I have tried a fedora, I love fedora's in general, but the couople I tried were not quite right. I think a Niels Pol fedora might be "it" but without being more sure it is tough to pony up that kind of cash. The search continues...

i like my costume, but too much white in the front isnt good- actually someone thought the top was "fake" and began to check and see. which led to someone else checking to see at the same time.
funny, if you werent me.
so.... maybe a more "slimming" top look?
i do have pants outfits, i wear those when i want to be a clown, and not make such a presence of gabby.

I have a Nils Pol bowler which I use with my full auguste face. I have found that it is just too much, too big for the lighter look which I have been trying recently. But with more of a "full clown" style, it just fits nicely. When I bought it, I found it to be slightly larger than expected. This was a concern initially, but then I recognized that being a "clown" I could deal with it and funny it up. So if it is wobby on my head or falls over my eyes a bit, I just play it like that was SUPPOSED to happen (well not really, the seeming unexpected and uncalled for surprize is what makes it work, but I go with it. I can even routine getting the hat to stay on my head properly now with all kinds of trouble.) So I'd give it a go if I were you. If just might be the thing to fill out your needs. Do know, however (if you haven't tried a Nils Pol in the past) that they are awful heavy hats. Compared to Karen Bell's (one of which I also use) it is like a brick to a feather.

Tim, er sorry I mean Deborah, do you have the Nils Pol website handy? I could Google it (its probably as simple as www.nilspol.com) but I figure we could use in in the "Great Resource" thread as well.

It seems that there are several suppliers of Nils Poll hats, but no one definitive source for finding every possible model and style. Just check out some of the juggling supplier websites in the U.S. and Eurpoe. Such as:
http://www.renegadejuggling.com/Web_...v3k/index.html
http://www.dube.com/hat/bowler.php?cd=bowl
http://www.kineticjuggling.com/happy...-hat-p-39.html
http://www.passepasse.com/hats-c-74....b0766a52f20a91
Also, you might want to try a Dube hat, which is similar.
They can be a bit difficult to locate in exactly the size and color scheme which is most personally desired. Jugglers usually know where to get them, though, So ask around.

I believe that this is Nils Poll's official website:
http://www.fastandfunny.com/happy-gb.htm
You know, I think that one of his multi-colored top hats could possibly work for you.
