long hair under a wig issue
Divide your hair in two sections. Pony tail ,one on each side. Cross over left pony tail to the right, right-left on top of your head. Afix with hair pins. Hair spray to secure any flyaways. No problem. I don't use those hair caps cuz I have a short forehead. Maybe wish I could cuz those wigs get ITCHY.

I buy a bag of cheap knee high stockings and I Pull one of those over the top of my head, stuff my hair in it, and tie and cut off the top.

Why wear a wig?
Not all Clowns do and certainly wig wearing is less prevelant in Europe where less make-up is also more 'the norm'.
I have long hair and usually plait it at the back in a long 'tail' with either (depending on gig and audience) multi coloured 'bits' in it (scrunchy's with loads of wool sticking out) or a smart black ribbon on the end.

I use to french braid mine. One on each side of my head. I had layers. But that holds it down. And then hairspray it. Mooseburger also has the cheap wig caps if you want to order all from the same place.

Another suggestion: I get the caps (they're like black stocking caps) at walmart. They are sold where they sell shower caps, etc. I think they only cost like $1 each.

When I started clowning, I did just as Lolly Plop suggested, but instead of using panty hose, I used little girl tights. Then if your wig is just a little bit see-thru you can even use tights similar in color to your wig color. My hair is heavy and it comes to my shoulders. I found the wig caps that I found at the beauty salon and a local clown supply store just weren't quite strong enough to keep my heavy hair up even tho I pinned it first. A friend of mine had the same problem. The tights work better for me. Panty hose would too, but you may need control top for heavy hair. Before I put it under the tights, I just pull it up on top of my head with a scrunchie and pin up layers that start falling. Then I put the tights over. I also used one of the Mooseburger skull caps for awhile but it just felt to binding and hot for me under the wig so I went back to the tights cap. Experiment and see what works for you. You can find girls tights cheap at the $1 if you want to try it first. If you don't like it you've only wasted $1. Good luck!

My hair is above my shoulders also. I french braid it into pig-tails then use hair paste to "glue" down the loose ends. The braids make a good place to attach bobby-pins to secure my wig if necessary.
