Pinky,
You probably have enough fabric to make it a two piece outfit, if your sewing skills are pretty good. My first clown costume had a jumper that zipper down the back, so yeah, using the facilities was a pain. Even if you've started sewing, you can make the costume your own with pockets and such. I just purchased fabirc for my new clown costume. I'm using a Raggedy Ann costume pattern.

Good Luck,
Keep your chin up, and don't be so hard on yourself!
Miss D.

I like your avatar photo. You could use that as a costume and look like a great clown. Take a picture of the costume, fabric, pattern or whatever you have to give us an idea. I am sure it will be fine.

I think that some of the clown costumes sold at Halloween look bad, and if they are like the other Halloween costumes, are made of very cheap fabric and don't fit well. If you buy good fabric and know how to sew, I am sure it will be fine. I would love to have a professional looking costume, but until I have a few gigs under my belt, I can't spend that much money.

Pinky, I think you look great with what you are wearing in your picture!! If I was a child I would not hesitate to go up and talk to you!! Do not fret about the costume. for the first few weeks I borrowed my clown mentors hand me downs: a red striped vest(to small), Rainbow striped bow tie, yellow spats on my shoes and a Straw hat(the kind barber shop quartet singers wear). Every clown starts some were, and I think that you are at a great start!

I think you mean "chins", LOL
I have already finished it, but it needs major alterations (it's HEE-UGE). Frankly, I'm tired of looking at it. I will wear what's on my avatar. Thanks!!!! I know your costume will be adorable! You look very professional in your picture!

Thanks so much. I'm thinking I will go with that. I know the kids won't care, anyway.

If I ever tailor it down (its so large), I will take a picture. Thanks for your advice. My mom lives in Sterling, VA. I was just there visiting last weekend (her birthday). I know if I still lived there, I would be able to find a clown alley. There's none down here.

Thanks again.

I sort of like the one you are wearing in the picture it looks like a costume you can work in
Alot of clowns buy fancy costumes only to have kids wipe chocolate cake on it so they are afraid to let kids near them and so they arent very good clowns in my opion I rather work with someone who doesnt have a costume and has a good time with the kids

I like the one in your pic as well, but your new one sounds fine too. As far as being male type. Who said. ... "Mayor Clancy" is a female but she wears a traditional male type clown costume. It's what works for you.

look up Circles the clown. He was an instructor at clown camo more than once and has performed at the white house and numerous other high profile events. Full time entertainer. Great clown. Bubble suit.
Also google Jackie Laclair. One of the true clown treasures of the world. His costume has a ruffle added and a hoop inside but a bubble suit none the less.
I think what is inside the costume is most imprtant. But both these guys look great also.
