Pix. I've never been to a clown convention for classes before. I went and saw the parade last year. How are the classes? Are the people friendley' cuz I'll be at the classes myself. Hubby's going with me, but he's not a clown, so he's just gonna hang out at the beach while I go to classes. I've been a clown off and on for about 20 years but everything I know or learned is from books. I really have had no contact with other clowns until I found this forrum. I'm a little nervous but excited to go.

I have havn't been in 2 years now. But I was on staff for 7 years.
You will have the time of your life. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The dealers are all GREAT. Be sure to tell them coco said hi. And your husband will not be alone either. There are several family members who do that. The boardwalk is a little slow until the weekend but then it is in full swing. Be sure and have a slice at 3 bro. pizza on the boardwalk. Normaly one of the few places open all week. The ice cream, half vanilla and half orange is also a must.
Be sure and compete. It is user friendly. A good place to try things out. There is make-up, skit and paradability. Trust me, there is no shame in trying anything there.
If you don't get on stage you will wish you did while you are watching. I promise. Judging is VERY gentle. The don't even like to call it judging. Oh and there is balloons.
Watch for my little friend Bridget. She is 8 now I think. We have worked together. Her grandpa, Jim Mareska (cool breeze) is wonderful at balloons and often does the jam. Give them a hug for me.

I wish I was going. I am having convention withdrawl.

Pix, thank you it sounds wonderful. I'll telll everyone I meet you said hi, whether they know you or not. I'll walk up to strangers on the boardwalk and tell them all about you. Scooter, did you decide if you are going yet? I guess I'll just have to look for a clown with no head.

Dumb question. I just wanted to make sure I had the right place before I say anything negative. Such as..... I was there back in 2002. Unless things have changed like perhaps all the assembly places are not scattered out all over several blocks that would be great. If you have mobility problems better take something with wheels to get around cuz alot of walking to and fro. To attempt to drive your car, parking is aweful and strick. Nor is there enough eating establishment. As my personal experience would have it, I didn't find folks as friendly there as say in the south. I stayed in the Aztec, fancy is ain't that's for sure. I was able to compete and drove a long ways to do so. I missed the opportunity to get the results. To this day I have no clue on the critiques. They were informative on how that worked and I missed it. Never-the-less of my own personal experiences I found basically upsetting. But, birds of a feather flock together , there you will find alot of other "birds" such as our own crazy clown selves. Supplies are there and folks knowledgeable to assist you. It wasn't the convention for me, maybe for you.
