I've created a Fundable to help get my silent film style vaudeville show produced in Seattle for a late summer or early fall premier.

This is a project I've been working hard on since last year and I am doing all in my power to get produced. If I meet the financial goal of producing the show I will put together some special gifts for those who pledge and I am working on some alternate rewards for those who can't make it to the show. What is Fundable.com?

Fundable.com lets groups of people pool funds to make purchases or raise money.

Similar to online auctions, Fundable's pages are created by people who use this site. Each project has a description of how much money needs to be collected and what it will do. Once enough pledges (not payments) have been collected, Fundable turns them into real payments and sends the total to the project's organizer.

No one takes a risk when making a pledge: if a collection expires before reaching its total in pledges, Fundable deletes all pledges and never charges money. This lets you participate in a group purchase or fundraiser without worrying about what other people will do. No one pays until and unless everyone else makes a pledge.

Hmm that is weird... I am not sure what the problem might be. The site isn't done in plain HTML I don't think so older browsers might not be compatible with it. Here is the link in plain text:

Hey CheckerZ! "Hanky Panky" is a stage show I've been working on since last year. It's in the style of an old silent Buster Keaton or Charlie Chaplin film but takes place on stage (and has no dialog of course. There is a "blind" accordion player though!).

The story is about a penniless clown, a maitre'd, a young woman and a famous handsome stage actor in a Paris Cafe. It all starts out when Chance (the clown) can't afford his bill. The maitre'd is ready to pummel him but with some luck a famous stage actor is in the cafe (and has been snubbing Chance in any way possible, treating the clown like dirt) with a beautiful young women doting on him. He is signing autographs and Chance slips his bill under the actors pen (getting him to sign for the bill!) and that's when the trouble starts!

Throughout the play Chance is forced to impersonate a waiter, a chef and a rich patron to get even with the terrible and conceited stage actor. Throughout the play Chance does his best (in his various disguises) to show the actor for the jerk he really is. In the end the roles are completely reversed and the bullyish actor gets his just desserts!

I really loved writing this show. I cast the play a couple months ago but finances have prevented me from being able to produce it. The funds are going to pay for performance space and to pay the actors and will also (hopefully!) cover some marketing expenses.

Several of my friends who don't live nearby but are planning to pledge were curious if there was someway I could arrange for them to see the show. So in lieu of offering tickets to those who can't make it I'll be sending out the show on DVD as well as offering the other gifts based on the pledge!

Here is the break down on pledge gifts!

I'm raising funds so I can finally produce my silent vaudeville comedy show "Hanky Panky" in Seattle for a July 08 premier. It's a project I've been working on for over a year and I need financial backing to meet the production costs of doing this amazing show.

Anyone who donates $10 receives a free ticket to any performance of "Hanky Panky" of their choosing.

For a donation of $20 or more you receive two free tickets to any performance of "Hanky Panky" as well as a Junior Executive Producer credit in the program.

For a donation of $50 or more you receive two tickets to any performance of "Hanky Panky", Senior Executive Producer credit in the program and an autographed poster from the cast.

Those that donate $100 or more will receive four tickets, Executive Producer credit, autographed poster, limited run "Hanky Panky" T-shirt and two invitations to the "Hanky Panky" cast party!

I am working on some additional gifts to offer people who can't make the show or the cast party.

"Hanky Panky" fund raiser Day 2!

I thought it would be fun to keep you all updated on how the fund raiser is going. I want to thank the Princess for being the first one to pledge to support this show. Thank you so much!

Here are today's numbers!



$110 of $550 raised! 20%! That leaves just over 23 days to raise the other $440 (80%). I am pretty optimistic about reaching this goal.

Currently people only need to make a pledge. You wont be charged unless the target amount of $550 is reached by the end of the fund raiser, 5/18/2008.

Chance, get that link in front of as many eyeballs as you can; post it on your local Craigslist, send out some email jokes with your pitch at the bottom etc.
