Thanks Sue, I might try them just to know about them when they are mentioned. Call it research. Right now I use Snaz and Paradise with a few Ben Nye Magiccakes and a couple of colors from the Wolfe Brothers. I like the good stuff. In the long run it cheaper and more satisfying. Plus having something special that can't be found at the local store helps set you apart as a professional and an artist.

The palmers that I use are in two size bottles one is 2oz. and the other is
8oz. and they mix well. I have mixed the base colors and have made alot of different colors depending on my needs I have a total of 14 different colors ranging from red to pink, yellow to orange, purple to blue and tan to brown and even gray to black. I have different shades like teal. It is a nice product and I find it easy to use and being water based it is easy to thin it back down if it gets thick again.

I have to amen the choir. Proper and real facepaints are an investment. Look at them as a professional selling tool. It's not fair to risk clients at the sake of saving a dollar. You don't have to purchase every color of the rainbow right off the bat. I have orange and pink Snazzaroo for sale @ $4.00 an 18 mm size. That's a savings of 50%.It's new/not been used or opened. Snazzaroo is great paint. It lasts a long time and I do alot of facepainting.
Same thing with the brushes, believe you me, use the BEST brushes for the right type of strokes your work will speak for it's self. If you want more paid gigs, ...like I said it's a good business investment. Miss Priss

I use lip gloss containers to hold my glitter. Meaning the lip gloss that is the applicator type. There is a particular brand called Black radiance that is dual. -A container at both ends so therefore you have two in one. Of course clean out the lip gloss. I've seen these type containers at the dollar store too. A word about glitter too. Do not use the metal flake glitter. Those are tiny little squares with sharp corners. Ouch when it lands in the eye! There is a very fine plastic glitter available. Different color glitters really make the world of difference too for a wonderful effect. (Glitter can cover a multitude of sins too)
I've also included theatrical powders and real eye shadows to my facepainting kit. Very nice effect as opposed to strickly paints. Some things like butterflies I incorporate both powders and the paint.
I use a squirt bottle of water to moisten my paints. I use several brushes at a time. In other words, I can't stand the site of that nasty water. Nasty ,nasty nasty. If that's your preferrance cleaning one or two brushes after every use, at least use a glass that is not see-thru. I substitue baby wipes to clean my brushes as opposed to dealing with a glass of water. I hope this helps.

I sense a professional among us. Thanks for your input about the glitter and the powders. Have you tried the Lumiere powers by Ben Nye? They have a great shade called Ice Gold, It is a cross between their white shimmer power and their gold. It is fantastic for accents when you want the shimmer and the sparkle but also want something more understated than poly glitter.

I like the powders alot!
Regarding the Palmers paint - I read on the Snazaroo site that they were also dangerous because they contain latex which alot of people are allergic to.
I use Snaz, Paradise, Wolfe, and Kryolan.
I'd be happy to go in on a starter kit for Sassy if she wouldn't object.

I hadn't heard that about Palmer, but it is advertized as being face paint and safe, but as I said, I don't like it, my daughter was using it to learn with, but now she use my paradize. I use paradise almost all the time, some snaz, but personally I like the feel of paradize better. I've started adding the star blend it, it's nice to. Speaking of glitter, I like the little "puff" bottles they small bottle you can fill with you choice of glitter. it come with a small funnel the cap is long and allows you to get close to the face and gently puff the gltter exactly where you want it.

I was just reading the old face painting posts and was amazed to find the thread from last year where Sue's original question was "What kind of face paints you use". The entire discussion quickly turned into how unsafe using acrylics for face apinting was and here it is a year later and we are going over the same points again.

Those are the powders I am referring to! I bought the gold and a few others. Then.... I seen some powders at a place called "big lots". Gold and shimmer white. I bought all they had. Awesome stuff, great for lions. I'll buy those unusual colors only we clowns use for blush shades too. Hey same thing only cheeper than than professional clown supplies. Just keep your eyes open. Now, It's become a habit. Called clown eyes. Thanks. MP

I have to agree with the guys here....things are tight here too...I would rather hold off entirely on the facepainting until I could afford to do it right. Thats what I did. Once I took Mama Clowns facepainting class I would NEVER use acrilic paints.
We all know that if a kid is begging is going to say yes to the face painting despite your warning of breakouts ect...it takes just one time for the kids to breakout and bam...lawsuit. We also want the kids (and parents) making good decisions about these things....
Cheers though.....
