SPIRIT LAKE, Idaho (AP) - A north Idaho school district is being sued by the parents of 2 students who say their children were burned when the principal used rubbing alcohol to remove face paint.
Court documents accuse Timberlake Junior High School Principal Georgeanne Griffith of also using industrial cleaner, fingernail polish remover and an unnamed ointment to clean the faces of Sara DeHart and Lauren Essman.
The lawsuit claims both girls' faces were burned ... and that Essman also experienced swelling, abrasions and peeling.
The students painted their faces for spirit week, but were slow in heeding Griffith's order to remove it.
Court papers say they were taken to the principal's office where Griffith allegedly removed the paint without contacting parents.
The parents are seeking $50,000 apiece and attorney fees.
District officials declined to comment on the case.
