Markie - have you joined the Google or Yahoo group dedicated to face painting? If not I suggest you join. I think you would really enjoy it, there is a wealth of knowledge and information pawwed around on a daily basis.

I got the new one in and it's a little better than the old one. I like the look of the paradise better, but used it for the base in alot of designs. I have a lot of darker skin types when I'm at festivals and some birthdays and for some reason they tend to want to become the dalmation, I ususally try and talk them into something else, the white tends to be streaky, even sponged, the powder to thin, this is what I was looking for, the darker the skin the more difficult. It's only this one but it's requested so much, I would like it to look better. But I still want it to be easily washed off. I love the lumineres, but I don't want to use it this type of line work.

Although last Sat. I did a party for a 4 yr. old and her 17 male cousin and another guy dared each other and I painted his whole face as a flower, using lumineres for the whole thing. He was so pretty, the other guy chicken out and became batman, they were going on motorcycles [wonder if they went through with it?]

the lumiere is a great product that's meant to be used as a dry powder (StarBlend isn't and that's it's main problem IMHO, I like it okay used the way Mehron means you to) and I think it's wonderful

When I do "older" youth or adults with more sophisticated designs, I prefer using my Ben Nye Luminiere powders. They're much more rich and shimmery but cost a lot more and come in a little container.

It helps if you take the opposite end of your smoothie-blender (the hard handle) and gently scrape some of the starblend loose which will allow you to pick-up a little more to lay on the skin.

Marcella has a GREAT DVD on using the powders which helped me a lot.

Good luck!

Sparky, What is the name of that DVD so I can possibly get my hands on it?
Thanks!!

I hope you don't mind me jumping in to answer a question you addressed to Sparky, but I figure what you really want is an answer. I think the video she's talking about is called The Magic Of Glitter Powders (that's the one by Marcela on powders I know about). You can get it here: Silly Farm - Videos & DVD's

Ain't she a sweetie? Just a wonderful lady who I am happy to support by buying product from her most of the time. Very helpful too.

Sometimes it's hard to email her, I'd say I'm 50/50 at getting answers if I send just to her @sillyfarm.com - if I send to both that and her personal address (which I won't post here) I'm usually pretty sure to get an answer.

But that's forgivable, I think it's just how much stuff gets lost as spam...

I find calling her more successful myself...Did a gig for the local School/Boys Club this week and again those Star Blend and Ben Nye powders came in handy!!! Like I said before some of the colors are a bit lite But all in al I still like 'em lots. When your dealing with 100 kids or more I cringe to think of that much painting at once!
