I do have these in my kit, yes I use the ones Heather @ Silly Farm sells (I buy all my face paint stuff from her - the service is great and when you buy everything from her, you benefit from the fact that in the rare and horrible chance there was to be a product liability issue, she carries product liability insurance herself (she needs to because she repacks a lot of things thus making her the manufacturer)) No, they're not the cheapest but I see the extra 50cents to a dollar I pay on each item as what I pay for the service, the incredible videos, and the unique products she has (her own repackings - the rainbow cakes, the "wonder palette", etc)
Anyways, on to the glitter tattoos - they are absolutely NOT a substitute for face painting and shouldn't be done on faces (prosthetic adhesive is very hard to remove and parents could get unhappy - I will only do them on the faces of older (at least 12 or so) kids). They're also very expensive - I charge an extra $30/hr to make up materials cost. I've only done them a few times because of this.
There is a skill and art to applying them well (you want them to last and look good but dry quickly and not use all your glitter) so don't think they're amazingly easy, though of course they are easier than face painting...
The beginner kit that Heather has is an amazing bargain and definitely worth buying and trying out. I'll be doing them this summer for sure, they're great for beach parties and stuff because unlike face paint, you can swim and prosthetic adhesive won't come off!
However, if you want to add face painting to your services, get some face paints and learn to face paint

I strongly recommend Mark Reid's DVD
On Your Mark, Get Set, Paint as well as Marcela "Mama Clown" Murad's
The Face Painting Book of Masks
Face Painting is an amazingly fun art, learn it. And get some glitter tattoo stuff too

Both are great but not substitutes for each other...
