Adorabelle the Clown
I am really just a wanna-be clown since I've only dressed up and entertained twice. I adore making people laugh and feel good. I've bought a few books about clowning, made a great costume, bought a wig and learned how to put on makeup (beginner quality, of course). My 10-year-old granddaughter did a walkabout with me in October and we did silly jokes -- knock knock stuff -- that went over quite well. She's wants us to entertain at a nursing home. Apparently she's more serious than I am about getting into this! Her 6-year-old sister would insist on coming but the 6-year-old's only trick is to "dust" people with a feather duster. Both girls have a costume, wig and shoes and they both look wonderful. The 10-year-old is Florabelle and the 6-year-old is Jinglebelle. We also have their 4-year-old cousin, Candybelle, who has her own cute costume. (It's a good thing I like to sew.) We're the Ding-a-Ling Girls!

Awww. that sounds adorable, adorabelle!. In a nursing home setting, I'd think the little ones could be cute to bring along. They make people smile, and would make the people feel more like they have visitors than just entertainers. You might want to drag another adult in with you though, to watch the four year old. I would start with bringing just the 10 and 6. No problem with the 6 yr old not having any tricks, if you find a punchy one-liner you can teach her about dusting or teach her a change bag, give her a gag, anything she can just do that and they'll love it. Good luck!

How about the "Clean-X" / Kleenex gag --
Have her ask someone if they want a Clean X, then she takes
out a letter "X" (made of foam) and dusts it off with the feather
duster, then hands it to the victim.

Welcome Adorabelle! Your little clown troupe sounds super-cute. It doesn't matter if you've put on makeup one time or one thousand times, it's having the heart of a clown that makes you one.

Since "no one" said it already, try to join us in chat every Thursday at 9 Eastern Standard Time Time (Tick Tock goes the Clock - which clock? where?), that would be 8 Central. If you live in the Pacific Time Zone, you can catch the replay live on tape on the news at 11. Of course if you're in that overly eastern part of Canada then who knows when we'll be there, as I don't understand da people up dere in dat nordern country, eh? It's all French to me! Of course, I may not show up, anyway, as I'm usually out Thursday evenings. But say hi to me and I might answer back. If I don't, you're sane. Which, actually, may not be a good thing for a clown.
