Hi everybody, my name is Dr. Schickelheimer. A clown doctor of course. I’m really a lab technician, so I get many opportunities to for hospital clowning as Dr. Schickelheimer. About 10 years ago I had wanted to get into clowning for awhile but didn’t have the right opportunity until one of those fateful events happened that would get me hooked for good. Because of a mix-up with my uniform, I had to wear a lab coat that was about 10 sizes too big and someone said I could paint my face and make a good clown. I thought that was encouraging but one of my lab tech friends took it a step further. She knew that I wanted to be a clown and was tempted by a large desert table in the cafeteria. The next thing I knew I was wearing a banana cream pie from ear to ear.

I loved the laughter and giggles and it led to many more slapstick moments as I developed my character. A clown class helped a lot too! So my specialty is slapstick. It seemed to come naturally for the doctor in the huge lab coat. I use a minimal amount of make up because of the children I see. They laugh at the big coat, blue hair, red nose, and silly jokes. Of course that old pie in the face gag has never failed with the kids.
Thanks! This is a great forum and I look forward to it.
