I currently live in NC and I'm a Shriner. My father is a Shrine clown and I hope to join his group in the near future. I'm trying to learn all I can ahead of time so I can be ready when the day arrives to put on the make-up.

Howdy and welcome to the group. I'm an old rainbow myself, in SC. If you interested TNT will be in Winston-Salem first weekend of August www.clowing4christ.com. I hope to attend.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I bought a couple of balloon dvd's and some qualtex so I can start learning to make the animals. My dad is a hobo clown and I may follow suit on that, but I've also thought of being a character clown centered on a farmer theme. I figured when parading, I could drive a John Deere gator or a beat up mower... just some ideas. I also thought professional overalls, the jolly walker shoes with a toe sticking out, and a comical oversized baseball hat, all with hobo-styled make-up.

Again, I am only thinking ahead since I don't have time to commit to it currently. Am I right to be thinking this much so early???

sounds like great ideas to me. To early? I don't think so, your character and costume is a constantly evolving thing, The more you work on your clown before you actually start the more realistic you character will be. You'll have answered all those questions, how old, where you live, etc. and be able to answer easily when asked.

jeff137. Welcome to the Clown Forum. Glad to have another Shriner here. There are a few.

You are right on track, don't worry the time thing.
