Hi everyone, I am Shadpoke T. Klown and live in Columbus Ohio. I am a clown part time and work in an ER here full time. I enjoy clowning and making people laugh. I have been a member of this list but I dont think I have really posted anything up until now. I have been partly clowning for 5 years and want to do more of it. I do more birthday parties than anything. I am creating my character everyday. Sort of a carefree goof. Like always. I hope Shadpoke grows and becomes a very good clown. Right now he is still growing.

Hi Shadpoke,
Nice to meet you. Also from Ohio but about 2 hours north of you. If you ever find yourself near the Cleveland area, let me know!
Welcome Shadpoke. I have seen you on some of the Yahoo groups from time to time. Glad you found your way here. Please start reading the archieves, there is a lot of information in there. What kind of training have you had? Are you looking for more Birthday parties or are you thinking of adding a restaurant or another venue?
Hi Shadpoke,
It's nice to hear from fellow Ohioian.
I'm in Richfield, just north of Akron. I am going to be down in your neck of the woods tomorrow -at the Ohio State Fair.
Hope to hear more from you!

Thanks for the welcomes. I haven't really had any training other than what I have learned on these list and what I have talked to other clowns. I have gotten some books from the library and have been to a clown class here in Columbus. I am wanting to expand my area. Just doing birthday shows right now and have did a few picnics and boy scout rallies. Right now just working on getting better and hoping to attend a good clown camp right now.
Right now I just sit back and try to learn what will be good for my character.
Again thanks for the welcomes and I hope to respond more in the future.
If you have a chance to make it to the Midwest Round-Up the first week in October (In Indianapolis) I would like to meet you. Plus there are a whole slew of classes available. check out www.midwestclowns.net We can both tell everyone they should join the clown-forum then.
Hi Fitzwilly,
Thanks again for all the great info. I can't make it this year (already have that weekend booked) but will keep it in mind for next year.
Do you subscribe to their magazine? Is is worthwhile?
The 3 Ring News only comes out 4 times a year and runs $12.00 It is useful for learning about events happening in the midwest and learning about some of the other entertainers in the area. I like it because it keeps me up to date on some of my friends. If you are looking for a magazine that is full of useful information about all aspects of clowning I would join COAI (Clowns Of America International) Their magazine "The New Calliope" is excellent. It comes out every other month and is jam packed with bits of wisdom. Plus they just added another 12 pages. Plus, plus there are a number of other cool little benefits of belonging to COAI. it only runs $30 a year ($35 the first year) which is about the cost of a regular subscription. Sometimes you can find old issues on Ebay.
