Default Re-Introduction

Hey everyone! I've found my way back to the forum. Just wanted to drop by a friendly hello to all you clowns.

I've been doing a lot of theatre lately and haven't focused enough attention on my loviest of all loves, clowning!

Looks like it will take me a while to catch up.

Hey, glad to have you back. If I remember correctly you were out on an island apprenticing with a mini circus, or was it a busking gig? Anyway let us know what you have been up to. We have missed your insights.

Default Re-Introduction

Great memory Fitzwilly! I was out on Camano Island (here in Washington state) apprenticing to an old neo-vaudeville performer Reverend Chumleigh. It was a great experience. He was one of Bill Irwin's old friends from the 70s. Also gave the Flying Karamazov Brothers their first show biz break, and incidentally gave me one too.

Because of him I actually got to know Magical Mystical Michael and talked to Avner online over at YouTube too. They're all old friends! Really weird working with someone like that at such an early stage in my clowning career. It is extremely humbling. I have a long way to go!

I moved back to Seattle at the end of last summer and have written a few vaudeville shows. Have yet to try them on an audience though. I'm planning on producing one this year with a talented playwright friend who's a huge fan of old silent comedians like Keaton and Laurel.

I've done a couple straight forward theatre shows since then and haven't had the chance to get anything of my own rolling. Hoping to change that though.

Some friends and I are talking about putting together an old timey jug band, I just bought a ukulele and have been practicing that like an insane fool. Playing with names right now. The Shoestring Budget Band and the Shoestring Quartet are the ones we've narrowed it down to so far. We're planning on adding a lot of physical comedy into the performances. Just getting silly and writing some fun songs.

Well, that is probably way more than anyone wanted to know lol! I think I'll do some catching up on the boards. I still have tons to read. Can't wait.

Welcome back Jeremy. The Forum is home to all of us and it'a always a special homecoming when one returns.

Theater work is grand and I wish I would have taken advantage of it in my younger years as some of the best tips I learned in performance that really helped my Magic were some theater tips I learned from Vito Lupo at the Winter Carnival of Magic in Gatlinburg, TN. He really knows his stuff when it comes to mixing theater with performing Magic.

Again, Welcome Back

~Sam

Welcome back Jeremy.
You gave me what I considered good advice when I first found the Forum, and then you performed a pretty decent disappearing act. Glad you found your way back.
