Hi there! I got interested in clowning when my daughter was in 4-H and she took the class and I joined her...about 18 years go. I attended clown classes in Elkhart, IN about 8 years ago and had a yearning to do it ever since. I love kids and only had one of my own so by clowning I can enjoy other people's children. I then got busy with my life and put it on the back burner. Then one day, 3 years ago, I met a wonderful man who is a natural clown. He got a clown suit made and has done a couple of clown gigs with me and you would of thought he went to school for it! Since the Lord is first in our lives we would like to start a Christian clown ministry, traveling to other churches and putting on shows...so any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Squiggles - Happy Hearts is sadly defunct. Jack and Carol still get together with Dorothy from time to time but that is about all. I was President of Happy Hearts about five years ago but had work conflicts that kept me away from the meetings for a couple of years.

Now the good news. I am still in the South Bend/Mishawaka area and there are a few other clowns around as well. We are getting a group together for the Memorial Day parade if you are interested. Also we get together every so often and "talk shop." Not official alley meetings right now, just informal friendly jamming and jawing sessions.

Hi Squiggles, welcome! I'm new too, and I love it here. I hope I haven't picked everyone's brain too much where there is still enough left for you! These folks give great feedback, and wonderful interaction.
I LOVE 4-H. What a wonderful program! My daughters are in it now and recently the older one did a balloon sculpture demontstration. She plans to submit a design for the "Do your own thing" category at the fair this year. And I was blessed enough to be asked to perform in between showing for their style show last year. It was a hoot!

As far as the ministry is concerened....the very first thing you should do is pray. Pray, pray and then pray again. Ask to have His will revealed and you will have better knowledge of where to start. Trust me....this works! The last time I asked for God to reveal himself to me, 13 minutes later, I got a "shake-up call". Literally, we had an earthquake! There's a longer story to this, and I'll share if the Forum is interested, but God spoke to me that day!

Anywho....when He let's you know what area in which you are to focus, find some skit books and re-route them for your message. I took a skit writing class at the only seminar I've ever gone to which was Joey to the World. Wonderful help! Find your resources, listine for you answers and then go for it!
