Default Some Juggling Routines

These are taken from a recent show I did. Feel free to use, expand, copy as you wish.

With the song "Powerhouse" in the background I had three juggling balls...two were bounce one was filled with sand. I would intentionally let the one with sand drop, pick it up and juggle again. Next time I let the bounce ball fall, and watched it bounce. Impressed, I did the same with the next bounce ball, then I threw the one filled with sand on the floor, didn't bounce. Picked it up, looked at it, dropped it back in my suitcase and took out another bounce ball, did a little bounce juggling (applause)

Did another juggling routine (I seemed to have stacked them up) and "picked" three apples off my tree. I had them in my hand, ready, music was "I will always love you," looking over to the guy I put in charge of music, looked over to him, then the song "Sisters," still looking over, tapping my toe, telling him to move along. He then played a carnival song, a special song that starts with the carnival music, then sounds like it melts. Finally, got to the "Beep Beep" song and everytime it "beeped" I would take a bite out of an apple. To liven it up a bit, I walked around stage, side-stepping, backwards, forwards, etc. The people clapped along, and really seemed to enjoy that.

Then, at the end I tossed the apples up in the air and let them fall on the stage. I took out a "hanky" which was actually a juggling scarf, "realized" I had others in my pocket and did a quick scarve juggling routine to the song "In the Hall of the Mountain Queen" (the song on that Tic Tac commercial with the woman juggling them on her tongue).

That is a short snippet of a longer show. Any other ideas, I am all ears.

I'm looking to add a juggling routine or two, any suggestions? I've just learned how to juggle, and I'm really good at it. Any tricks that a beginner can do?

What are your skills? Can you do "Juggler's Tennis?" "Under the leg" and columns? If so, I have one that might work.

I can do all three of those, and I'd love to hear more of what you've got!

Thanks for joining the forum, and for petitioning for a juggling resource.

Here is routine with the above skills.

I am a silent clown, so all of this is done with mime and imagination.

I come out with the three balls in my hand, I look up into the air then throw them all at once. I notice that does not work, pick them up and try throwing one up only to watch it fall (Basically, studying and a little mesmerized by what the ball does). Finally, I try again and figure out how to juggle.

During the course of juggling, I watch as one ball seems to be "breaking form" and going over the others. I watch this happen a couple of times (Juggler's Tennis) then stop juggling. Look at the one ball, knock on it, test it, shake it, think nothing of it, and go on again. Same thing starts to happen. And, I am starting to get a little annoyed, so I stop juggling, take the ball in my hand and with the other "chastise" it by wagging my finger at it. Thinking it has "learned" its lesson, I continue juggling only for it to happen again. Do the same thing (chastise) and juggle again. Everything is going well until all the balls "break pattern" and go into columns. A little amazed and annoyed, I stop juggling, look at them, chastise them all, and start juggling again. This time there is no hope, not only are they columns but the "disobedient" one from the beginning is now mirroring the other ball (columns and juggler's yo yo) Giving up I let the ball fall out of my hands (purposely drop it and let it roll away)

When I pick it up it seems a bit sticky, no matter, I will continue juggling anyway. I go to throw the first ball (the "sticky" ball) from my dominant hand, it's stuck. I am now fighting with it to get it up in the air, no luck. The kids, of course, will be telling you to let go, just ignore them and continue. Then you will take your other hand pull it off, only for it to "stick" to that hand. You then take both hands and they both wind up sticking to the ball, so you take your foot and try to dislodge it (you can either let it fall or fall down with it) If you let it fall you can pick it up only for the same thing to happen, only when you pull it off with the other hand, quickly put it under your arm, get ready to juggle and then realize the third is missing. Turn looking for it back and forth, the kids will be telling you it is under you arm, still act confused, continue searching for it. Finally, get all three together, "unstick" them and then juggle. Given all the work, they will most certainly applaud.

Usually, from there, I can always do the bounce juggling routine. If you know how to bounce juggle I can tell you that one.

But, if you notice, the majority of this stuff uses juggling as a way to create comedy with three balls and wherever your imagination wants to take you The skills are necessary but not to show off but rather to make the ball "come alive."

EDIT: I realized I did not include the under the leg thing. I don't know what I was thinking because I rarely ever do that in a routine, and, if I do, it is not with balls but with the Diabolo or Devil Sticks...sorry, Angel Sticks and "big giant yo yo that looks like two plungers glued together"

I like it!

With that under arm thing, you could then go into arm pit juggling, losing one after the other repeatedly under the arm. It is where you put balls under the opposite arm, and let them drop into that arms hand as you place the next one under that arm with the opposite hand. I don't know the official name for it but it looks cool, is easy, and has a lot of comic potential.

Good idea, I like that add-on, that would be perfect!
