I did it all the time with tools... hammers, wrenches, clippers, hatchets...

Yeah, and the hammers and hatchets have a different feel to them, and do strange things, almost a semi-spinning motion when you toss them in the air.

You're right Tim. It was much easier to ask for a date at the clubs once I got over the fear of being hit..... again.

But now the women don't show up for fear of getting hit on by you!

So is there a major difference between the clubs on the market? I have a set of cheapo clubs that I bought off ebay for $14.00. They're just plastic with tape wrapped handles. I have the basics down, but the clubs aren't pretty and I'm wondering if I'll gain anything other than looks by upgrading.
There are so many brands out there, how's a clown to choose?

It sounds like those might be very light, more of a "toy" club rather than a professional style one.
I have a set of Europeans and they suit my purpose well.
It might help checking out this site, since they "centralize" all vendors into one and explain what each club is appropriate for.

The key is to get a set of clubs which is weighted and balanced properly. Professional juggling clubs will have a center rod through the plastic molding which helps to stabalize flight. There are subtle differences between types and brands of clubs, but if you stick with one of the main manufacturers like Todd Smith, Beard, Henry's, or Dube you'll be alright. These clubs will cost more than $15 for a set, however. More like $25 - 40 each.
Of course, it depends what you want to do with juggling. If all you're ever going to do is cascade three clubs for a few revolutions once a show, then you may be able to get by with the cheaper clubs. But if you want to take it to another level of real juggling you need something of a quality product which will enable you to carry that out.

Yeah. I knew when I got the cheap set that they would be a starter set, to see if I had any interest whatsoever. Now that I know that I do, it's time to upgrade.
Understanding that it's a personal decision, anybody care to share their favorites and tell me why?

I used Beard clubs and now I use henry trainers. Why? Beard is just fine but the Henrys are a little bit longer I just prefer how they turn they give me the feeling to be more in control. Henry trainers are most common so it has the advantage of the most change of having similar clubs when passing with different jugglers. I personally not into the large body clubs they are to slow for my liking and to heavy. I have heard good stories about the PX3 but never tried them personally for a longer time so no idea about them.
I really think that if you got the possibility it's the best to go to a store where you can try different clubs or go to a for example a festival where there are more jugglers with different clubs because as you said it is very personal.
