Default Beginner Tricks?

What tricks would you recommend to me that are easy, and fun for kids as well? I need something easy! I was thinking of getting the "Magic Coloring book" and what else...

Dissapearing/streatching/severed finger tricks are my favorite. They are really stupid so you have to use all the showmanship tricks you know.

1) effect: You pull your thumb off. Tecnique: hold you left hand out like a wall, with your thumb sticking up. Then show everyone that you thumb is firmly attached by tugging on it and moving it around and such. Then make your right hand a wall, and move it in front of the thumb. Then curl your left thumb behind the left hand. While you do this or right after "grab" the thumb with your right hand and pull. Viola the thumb has been pulled off! You can do all sort of fun variations like making it vanish, pulling it out of peoples ears, or finding it on their hand and so on.

That is the one I use the most.

Streaching the thumb is pretty easy too. Form a thumbs up sign with your left hand. Then grab your thumb with your right hand, and while you do it stick your right thumb between your index and middle fingers. Then with much show and concentration, streatch your thumb!

These are absurdly easy and even my five year old students can figure them out. But that is their streangth. If you play it as seriously as possible you will get laughs from everyone!

Anything with a change bag should work. Some of the novelty tricks like "run rabbit run" or the disappearing dice are fun. Needle through balloon. Mis-made flag. I have an 15 foot long multicolored silk which goes over really well. If you can learn some basic rope tricks or gag card/picture tricks that would work, also.

Mouth Coils are popular with kids (requires some sleights)
Sponge Square to Ball (pretty simple gimmick)
D'lites are pretty straight forward, pretty much just timing and presentation
Joker Tube/Strat-O-Sphere

Has anybody used "Flowers From Fingertips," also marketed by LaRock's as "Flower Holder"? It comes with two flesh-tone holders (made by thumb tip-manufacturer Vernet), each of which produces 7 flowers. It looks cool, but I'd like to hear from somebody who has it. It's only $10.95, so I'll have to find a few other new toys before I qualify for the "Free Shipping with $150 purchase!" lol

Also, I just ordered Barry Mitchell's "Can of Wands." I've wanted this for years and am pretty excited about it. (You just can't have too many comedy wands!) Has anybody seen this product?

Can-o-wands: When you take the lid off the cannister, five cloth covered spring wands jump out. It was kind of pricey ($40), which is why I haven't purchased it before. It's going to be a belated birthday present to me from me.
