Default Movie Magic: Market Opportunity Coming Soon!

I'm a fan of working movie theatres as a balloon artist/clown/magician. Perks are great, the money is ok, and the exposure is nice as well.

Lobby entertainment is also a venue that many don't market themselves. It can be difficult, and often requires that "right" moment. That moment is at hand.

The latest installment of the Harry Potter series hits the screen this November, and a strolling (even stage) magician brings an element to the table that no other profession can muster.

It is worth contacting theatre management with a proposal (even working for tips for an opening night may not be a bad idea. You'll at least get a free movie and refreshments for you and friends/family, some tips, and your business card in a lot of hands).

Now is the time you want to begin talking to the theatre management. It gives you plenty of time to iron out the details, and leaves you plenty of time to put together an act if everything pans out.

My planned magic/prop list is as follows for Harry Potter:

Flash Wand (creates "balls of fire" several feet away via flash paper)
With a Harry Potter theme, you need a wand or three...

Tools (with various tricks too long to list here)
Thumb Tips
D'Lites
Topit
Sanda Device
Sponge Balls

considering magic shops, magic store, earth's largest, magikal, shopsearch, entertainment, hobbies, arts, hobbies, hocus pocus, toys, puzzles and magicsearch just for the theme element...

I may also do a second show for younger audiences. The above is pretty much for strolling stuff, but for a younger audience I'll set up "stage," and probably pull out a few comedy magic routines:

Vanishing Bandana
Stratosphere

Neither are Harry Potter relevant, but they both offer an opportunity to involve a younger crowd into the act, and only take up 15ish minutes so it will move them through quickly and not clutter the lobby.

At elmwood they have something called the "phloating phoenix pheather" a nice little feather levitation that is designed with Harry Potter patter.
