I finally did my first birthday party. I had been doing some practice shows for people that we know. It was quite an adventure. There were only 6 kids there but they were a handful. A couple of them wanted to pull off my nose and the others wanted to beat me up as soon as I arrived. I had to get the kids under control and remind the adults that discipline was their job. The worse part was the heat. There was a cool breeze but it was still very hot because I did the show outside. It took a while to get the kids under control and they were constantly interrupting me during the show, but it didn't take a genius to figure out that was going to happen.
I think the most important thing I learned from today was that you should practice your magic tricks and entire show from beginning to end until you know it like the back of your hand. The kids tested me from the beginning but seemed to really enjoy the show by the end. I used a change bag to pull a scarf that said Happy Birthday in black and white. I was about to pull out another one that was in color but before I did, the birthday child said he wanted me to pull out one that had his name on it. I told him that I thought I could only pull it out in color. He seemed a little disappointed.

The juggling, jumbo props, magic and balloons went well and it was definitely an education for me!
