Default How to figure out prices for events

I have a couple of offers for gigs working as a promotional clown. One for the mall twisting balloons for Back to School Tax Free Weekend. It will be inside in the middle of the halls so in AC but I have to probide the supplies. The other is for the flea market. They are providing supplies such as helium , round balloons and balloons for twisting. I'll be working under a shade tree near the road so folks will see the colors of my clown tent and uniform. I am stumped on what to ask for a fee for either of these since all my clowning has been volunteer under the local clown alley. HELP :?

i think its area dependant as far as how much to charge. i found out how much the best clown in town got paid and worked my way down from that. also my alley helps me with what i should charge because they know the area and how much people are willing to pay.

I'll go along with Gabby, depends on the area your in. Some could easily charge anywhere from 100, 150 per hour or a set fee for a set of hours ie 4 hr. I'm in a depressed area, mostly textile type area, small town, I charge $50-75 depends on location, time, etc.

Make sure they give you a certain number of breaks, even in air condition every one needs 10 min. personal breaks.

Thanks for the advice. The city says the economy is good but being on the ecenomically challenged side I have to question that. I don't see as many new cars as beaters around town and there are a lot on less than desireable neighborhoods.

Default Charging

Another factor you may consider on your quote is location.

For instance, the 2 examples you mentioned are typically in the lower end income, so I would suggest charging a slightly lower rate.

You still want to stay with a reasonable rate, however, because you don't want your services to SEEM cheap. If you tell people my rate is $100 an hr, then they can usually say that you must be good since your rates are higher than, say, the average joe next door...

Put my bid in at the mall which has the overpriced stores in it. Now I hope my inexperience doesn't shoot me in the proverbial tushie. All I will be doing is bending ballooms and cutting up entertaining the kids so I think I will be ok. Got to wait a few days to hear back from their promotions director. Anyone got some spare Red Nose brand sedatives I can borrow in the mean time??
