It's nice and bright but with the solid orange and yellow at the top, I'd bring those colors to the bottom as well. Yellow socks and orange shoe laces or vice-versa. You could even use rick-rack for shoe laces.

Did you notice that the solid green fabric matches the rick-rack trim but does not match the green in the polka dots? Kelly green is easy to find in solid fabric - I can't imagine why the seamstress would pick a different green. (Trust me, no one would notice but me. I've been known to find the missing dot on a whole room of stenciled border!)

If I'd change anything, it would be the shirt. I'd stick with green then use orange socks to match the orange in the bib and green rickrack for shoe laces.

One other minor detail. If you can find half-sphere shaped buttons, they'd look more like gumballs.

The big dots definitely fit your name! I give it a thumbs up! It's really cute!

May I ask the cost?

Okay, to buy Converse, you really should go through Converse.com. Their customer service is fantastic!

My everyday Cons are canvas, and they have held up for over a year now...I even wore them to work when I was at McDonald's!
If you'll be walking a lot, maybe get some insoles just to make them a little more comfortable.

as Stitches said, you definately need the yellow and orange on your feet, rather than the black. You can get custom Cons for about $60 (the same price as the leather.).

Stitches,
Thank you for the great comments! I did notice that the greens are different, but didn't think that it was a big deal since I've read that a clowns the costume is not supposed to always "match", I'll call her to see if she can find a better green- if she has not already started it. I love the half round button idea and using rick rack for shoe laces! Do you think that the black leather converse hi tops would be ok if I had yellow socks and orange rick rack trim to carry over the orange and yellow from the top(the background of the dots is black)?

The cost is $100.00 which includes: skirt, blouse(not shown - yellow peasant style with dotted ruffle trim), pantaloons, hat, removable ruffled collar, 2 different size bows.

Hi Gumball, great name. My shoes are canvas hi tops that were cream colored but Decorated by residents of a nursing home where I work.
They now have multi colored jellybeans painted on them and I wear one green and one red sock.
The kids always tell me I have odd socks and I say 'Thats funny I have another pair just like them at home.'

Stitches,
I did a rough photoshop edit to try to change colors.
Here is what it would look like with a green skirt.

[img][/img][/img]

I think that I like it better with the purple skirt - too much green for me. I also tried it with purple pantaloons, but then it was too much purple. I emailed the person who is making it to see if she had a better matching green - thanks for pointing that out. @>-
I think that the price is very fair...I don't want to upset her by starting to change things. I sew also, but for the reasonable price she is charging, I figured it was easier and maybe cheaper to start with her costume - by the time I bought patterns thread rick rack etc. Down the line, I do plan on making my own costumes if I am successful at clowning.

Again Stitches, thanks for you comments! <3
Also big thanks to Luki Loki, The_Princess_of_Bozonia, Scruffy, ibimus, Jitterbug, Ashes, jellybeanz!

What about this variation? Do you like it better? (ignore the green on the pantaloons and waistband, and the green rick rack would be orange on yellow)

I just called the person who makes costume - she was already in the process of cutting it out. I was not expecting her to make it so quickly, since I just placed the order yesterday. Luckily, I was able to change the colors. After looking at the pictures again, I decided to go with yellow pantaloons, and have no green on the costume at all. The pocket tops will also be yellow with orange rick rack trim. The waist band and straps will be purple. I'll send pictures when it is complete. Hopefully I didn't make is mistake changing it....
