Yes "Lite Auguste" AKA "European Auguste" works...
Sharpies are not hard at all to remove Sue... because your writing directly on the greasepaint... it never touches your skin.. BUT sharpies are not safe for use on skin...
www.Proknows.com has tons of clown noses that ressemble gumballs... you can get them in ANY color of the rainbow... and ever in glitter shiny finishes ect.

Even if it comes off easy, I still don't think I'd do Sharpie even in competition, which I'm not interesting in doing anyway. I do like the critique [sp?]options when available at convention/ workshops. That way you get feed back on what looks good and what could be improved, some times it's just a little thing that can make all the difference.

Gumball is a WONDERFUL name! Your costume is cheery and bright and lots of fun. I'd go to Walmart for shoes before ordering anything. I bought the largest sized men's black canvas high tops. I didn't stuff the toes or anything but they were completely comfortable for a two hour parade. Before that, I had a pair of white high tops in my own size. I cut motifs from the fabric for my costume and glued them onto the sides of the shoe. They were very cute. When I bought my black shoes at Walmart, I noticed women's high tops in some fabulous colors. For me, canvas shoes are more comfortable than leather. The canvas is cooler and flexes more easily.

gumball
Hey, I was thinking if you can get some earrings that are big balls, looking like gumballs, either the dangling kind or the just round ball type, that'd really be cute! If you're good at makeup, another suggestion would be to maybe paint a gumball, maybe blue or yellow on your cheek and accent with a little white to give it dimension if you're artsy. Think about it.
I feel like i'm at "Build-a-clown" store. LOL
This is going to be cute when you're done. LOVE the outfit with the yellow. I agree with ashes. Get a wig that brings out one other color that's not a major color in the costume, but still included. VERY CUTE!! Wish I could be Gumball...
Jitterball, um I mean, Jitterbug

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all you wonderful suggestions..you have helped me so much!
Well, my costume arrived yesterday! Woo hoo! I am very happy with it -the woman who made it did a very professional, wonderful job. I bought my wig, make-up, gloves, socks and shoes today and tried it on for the first time. Since the sleeves of the blouse are short, I added a yellow shirt under it - it will not be my final one, but that was all that I could find for now. I also put my clown make up on for the very first time- ever. (The straps are falling in the pic - they should be straight. There is also another pocket which doesn't show in the pic)
Here are the pics:

Before I was asking about auguste "lite" and then I go and make myself up as a white face....typical woman, huh? My personality is more of a white face (comical), but I was trying to avoid wearing all of the make up because of my sensitive skin. I still have my first "face" ever on to see what happens - it's been on for over 3 hours now.....
Again, I want to thank all of you for your help!!!!!
Things are really falling in place and moving soooooooo fast in my clown pursuit. I didn't even consider being a clown until about a month ago. Now, I have my "name", my first costume and found the perfect accessories; I have been teaching myself balloon twisting, and yesterday, I found out about a "clown college" about a 45 minute drive away that I did not even know existed! I thought that I was on my own to learn ( just picked up 16 books from the library about clowning, balloon twisting and magic tricks) and with much appreciated help from this forum. Even though school goes starts in Sept, I spoke with the main instructor and I will be attending my first class this coming Monday! I truly feel that my being a clown was meant to be! My goal is to volunteer at our local childrens hospital as a clown.
Thank you,
o Gumball o

I used Ben Nye make-up. I bought a "deluxe clown kit" ($21.99)which contained: clown white lite base paint, a small palette with blue, yellow, red and black paints, a brush, applicator sponges, black and white pencils, a puff and setting powder I used theatrical liqiud latex for my nose.
