Default Name and costume questions

Hi Everyone,
I would like to become a clown and have been reading this forum and have learned sooo much. Thanks for all of the wonderful information you all share.
What do you think of the name GumBall as my name? Does it have a bad connotation to anyone? I would like to incorporate colored polka dots in all my outfits (resembling gumballs) and since my shape is fluffy , I thought that name might be a good on for me I want a happy upbeat name- my style is most likely going to be auguste.

I found someone who makes clown outfits for a reasonable price and I think that I have found the perfect starting outfit. I don't know how to put up a picture here, but I could email it to someone if they would please post it for me. I wanted to see what you all think before I order it.
Right now, I can't afford real clown shoes so I was planning on buying bright high top converse shoes. Do I buy my correct size or larger ones?

Thanks for any and all help and suggestions!
Suzan

Hi Gumball!

I think your name is cute. I wear high top sneakers too and I bought the correct size. If you buy them bigger, you'd have to stuff the toe.

I'm big on custom name tags: Find some bright shiny beads that resemble small Gumballs and wire them together to spell your name. Wire a pin to the back. It will be a lot of work, but the end result will look good.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome Gumball!
The name is great and very original. In fact, you're the only gumball I know.
As far as a costume, They are always a work n progress. The costume you start with is most likely not the one you will end up with. There might be some remnant of the original costume but, if you plan carefully, you might just change to law of probability.
Nothing wrong with the converse shoes. The size thing is up to you. I have no trouble walking in over size shoes. but, they drive my middle son, Officer O'hare, positively batty.
We're glad to have you aboard! ask any question that you cqn come up with. there are no dumb ones. espescially when it comes to clowns!

Gumball is a cute name! Very nice!

Personally, I prefer to wear true-to-my-feet sized shoes, but that's just becuase it bothers me to have more shoe than I have foot. You could always go to your local Foot Locker, and try on different sized shoes to see what works.

Welcome Gumball!! LOVE the name!! Can't wait to see what you come up with. There are so many possibilities w/that name. You could even get a bag of bulk gumballs and hand them out as a walk-around. (just be careful of the ages you distribute to because of choking hazzards...oh, the dangers of being a clown!)
Good luck!!

Welcome, Gumball!

I know a LOT of clowns that started with Converse.

I started with track shoes ('cause I was a rodeo clown) but
when I started as "Ashes" I used converse.

I bought them oversized and wore them on the incorrect feet.
They were more comfortable that way, and looked mucho goofy.

On the other hand, Petunia wears pink converse and she bought
hers in her correct size.

So, there is no set-in-stone rule.

Good luck and remember that there are a lot of experienced
clowns here always willing to share their knowledge!

Thanks all for your great suggestions!!!!! I am staying with Gumball the clown and see how it works.

I was looking at the different colors available in the converse canvas...then I checked out the leather ones...for the price difference, I would rather have the leather - would stay cleaner, longer I would think.

How do you feel about black with the white bottoms -the "I - Robot" style for a girl clown? I would add bright shoe laces, pompoms, paints etc to liven them up. Here is what they look like:
http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/2720313...unt/15.html#mr

Since I am just developing my look and money is tight - I wanted a comfortable shoe that would last and look clean! I have found the canvas shoes are about $30.00 (with shipping) avarage on ebay. The leathers are 62.00.

I plan on walking in parades in the summer and being at outdoor events. -I can just imagine the canvas ones getting dirty or grass stained pretty quickly.

Thoughts on this. please?

I am going to try to post the picture of the costume I am going to order...
hope this works
