Goodwill had a fabulous purse for my alter-ego, Florabelle. It's incredibly gaudy. I think it was originally a beach bag but I've never seen anything so loud and cheerful in my entire life. It absolutely completes the costume and it only cost me $3.00! I'm now a big fan of bags or purses. It's pretty easy to sew a handbag. I started to write how to do it but it would be easier to have someone show you or to look it up on the internet somewhere. It's super simple to do but a tad complicated to explain.

Guess what! I found my purse!

I was on a fashion-forum, and one of the guys on the reposted a picture(in the ugly purse thread, of all places) this lovely bag. I emailed him, and he sent me the link for the online catelogue.

tada!

Mine will, of course, be red.

I almost feel like I'm cheating, becuase a bag like that is such an easy way to get some quick, one-liner jokes.

Yee! That's a cool bag! I really liked the hatbox idea, too. One thing that's cool about hatboxes and suitcases is that you can decopauge the crud out of 'em and put anything you want on there. I just ordered a suitcase style facepainting kit from sillyfarm.com in stripes: http://sillyfarm.com/sillykits.html It's that 'complete kit' A big investment, but with our kind of festival attendance, it should pay off in donations and such. Very exciting for us to be able to spend a bit of money this year.

What do you think? I like the stripes, but I'm still hoping to decorate it. Have you gotten the clock bag in the mail yet? How do you like it?

Default RE: Bag

I bought an old beat up little suitcase from a thrift store for a couple bucks (I think it was actually an 8 track case!) and I too want to put stickers all over it. My act is completely vaudeville in style. Glad you found your perfect bag!

I dont know what kind of props you use..... but when all my items became TOO much to handle in just the three pockets on my outfit, i made a cheap apron of many pockets. I put a HUGE amount of balloons, little toys, stickers, small magic props etc in mine and it works out just fine!

The other thing i do (for larger "gigs" like trade shows etc.) is i have the sliding drawer type storage containers by rubbermaid etc. I get one on wheels, and stack any others i need on top and it keeps my stuff organized really well. I just find a nice safe place to leave it at the venue, where its easy to access, and take what i need for a few hours when i walk about.

i would suggest a purse or something to you , but i dont know much about purses....

Cornelius my mime clown has a few pocket but I have found that using a fanny pack which we attach a bicycle horn to and I use the pouch in parades for candy.

Jasper has a suitcase that he uses and Doc uses a doctor bag.
