Great ideas WAldo. Wish I had time to order the invisible leash, but it's this saturday. There's no magic store near me. Everything I get has to be ordered online. How do you all carry all your props? Stickers, lollipops, balloons, pumps, flowers, pipe cleaners....it boggles the mind! Thanks!

I offer them. Most children who know they aren't allowed such things will say no thank you, or I can't have chocolate. If parents are there then they often will look at the parents and the mom or dad will make the call. Offer them a sticker instead.
The important thing here is that you go out and get your feet wet as a clown. Taking the plunge I call it. Set a date that you will do it.
BTW, since you were a Shyst...er.... paralegal; before- perhaps you might have some good advice you could share with the group on simple contracts??

The flower one gag I listed before, you can use any artificial flower and the stems can be purchased at craft store or even Walmart.

Another one I got from this form is to make a camera out of a small box (mine is 4x4x2 box and a toilet paper roll). Cut a hole through the box so the roll goes all the way through. Go to the internet and get pictures of monkeys and chimps and print them into 4x6 pictures. Pretend to take their pictures (you can ham this part up having them pose) and then pull the picture out of the end of the tube (like the old polaroid pictures) and hand it to them. They get a kick out of it, even though they know what's coming. I usually have a stack of eight different pictures (you could do less).

I spray painted my camera with paint I had in the garage and put a string on it for a strap and a sponge ear plug for the button.

I am lucky to have Pattycake clown with me, we play off each other, the other day we were doing a walkabout for a show put on by developmently delayed children, greeting the people as they came in. When it was time to leave I was helping Pattycake on with her coat and when she tried to put her arm in the sleeve I pulled the coat away and we were off to the bullfights. The kids and parents got a big laugh out of that, and it wasn't planned it was just something that we did. We both start out each preformance with butterflies but when you see the kids reactions to your clowning they all go away.
