Default Desperate for Help

Hello Everyone,

I'm a newbie and I've joined a clowning group. But I must say, I look like crap....and that's after I've spent two hours trying to put on makeup carefully.

My main problem is that I'm using Ben Nye, and I really want to go with the Classic European clown look.....but I can't seem to get the goopy clown white close enough to my eyes without getting either in my eyes or on my eyelashes - are other brands more pliable? Or any tips on how to get it really close to my eyes without getting in my eyes?

THanks!

I also use Ben Nye as a white face clown. I scoop a little in the palm of my hand and in a minute it warms up in a more plyable form. The Jim Howle is creamier, though I haven't tried it personally.

According to the all wise and all knowing Fitzwilly, the Mehorn is even thicker than Ben Nye. If you already have clown white, I would work with what I have first. Try the palm trick and see how that works.

I was white face for several years. I still do it depending on the event.

I take a dime size blob and put it in my palm also. But I rub my hands together vigerously until both palms are covered with the warm (nearly hot from the friction) make up. I then rub my hands all over my face. I make sure I get in all of the lines and even wipe right over my closed eyes. Yes this will coat my eye lashes but we can deal with that in a minute. I then pat my face with the flat palms of my hands reapetedly all over. This removes any lines and finger marks so you have a smooth surface. If it seems to thick this is the time to fix that. Wipe the excess off your hands on a dry towel and pat again. This will pull off any excess make up. You want it to be very thin. Then you clean up your hands. I have never had it go into my eyes like this. Powdering is another matter. That is when I have to be careful. I keep them closed as I use a powder sock all over. I have the brush ready and clear my eyes first.
This is a lot to say but actually takes very little time.

That will give you a good clean white coverage. You can choose if you want to cut away where you are going to put your colors of put it over the white. I have seen both done with sucsess.

Now for the eyelash thing. Mascara. Yes even for the guys. It makes them black again and they also show even better and high light your eyes.

I still have a couple pics of white face characters on my web site.

I use leon mcbrides por face. But I use meheron for years before. Anyone remember the apple white? Talk about thick. But great for competition.

I use the ben nye for my white face, I use a round makeup sponge to apply mine, I pat it all over, then just keep patting til I get an even smooth coverage. I fold the sponge to get close it the eye. This works for me. I can get into full white face in about 30 mins. now. I know some use their hand and fingers I perfer the sponge.

I really like using the Jim Howle. I've used Ben Nye, Mehron, Gala, and Jim Howle and Jim Howle is the creamiest and easiest to apply. It doesn't require warming it up first to make it spread. It's like applying a lotion ... it's that creamy.
