Default UK Clown Convention/Camp?

Are there any other British clowns around here? I would settle for European.

No offence to my new American friends, you know I love you all, but I’m feeling a little like the ugly duckling here (because I’m different not ugly).

America has loads of clubs, associations, clown schools etc, but surly there must be something for UK/European clowns? I want to go to clown camp and clown conventions too!

Hey milo, I want to attend to a European clown camp - convention too but it's difficult to find a good one in Europe.

Happy clowning.

Lets get say 10 of us euro clowns together and rent a villa somewhere fairly local (UK, Spain, France Germany) – Then see if we can get an American instructor to come and spend a week with us! We could rent a villa for €500.00 so we would be looking at €50.00 each for accommodation, perhaps €300.00 travel and €50.00 food – I could afford €400.00 for a week of clowning! Any American super clowns fancy a European holiday? We can all chip in to pay for your expenses!

What do you all think? We could make history, the first Euro clown camp!!!

That would be really cool! I get the impression lots of clowns travel from around the world to attend the US camps, so surly some of these people would come to the European camps? I bet there would be loads of American clowns who would like a European holiday and who would come too!

Perhaps if we were to put out the feelers via COAI, WCA and other clown events websites and try to get something set up for next year or even the year after?

I know just about all of England, Ireland and Scotland, so if you wanted help organising a UK venue I’m your man, anywhere else in Europe and I’m afraid I don’t know too much!

Do you think she would go for it?

Clown Star UK Contacts

I would try contacting Roly Bain, who is a tremendous clown from the UK: roly@rolybain.co.uk

Roly graduated from a 2 year circus school somewhere in Europe and is a fulltime clown and also happens to be something in the Church of England (can't remember his title). Very talented man!

Arthur Pedler is a legendary clown but I don't know his contact information.

You might also want to correspond with the Director of Clown Camp, the original camp program hosted at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse for the past 28 years. Dr. Snowberg hosts clown camps around the world and has recently done so somewhere in England as well as Japan. You can e-mail him at: snowberg.rich@uwlax.edu

(I just received word this morning that they have filled the dorms for clown camp in LaCrosse and are cutting off registrations at 200! They're now taking names for a cancellation list)

Good luck! Hopefully we'll see you one day on the other side of the pond!

Sparky
